Ugh Osomatsu fandom...Like it was nuts back when I was into it, bc on one side you had the creepy fujoshis who incested the fuck out of the brothers, or you had the insufferable SJWs who shipped the brothers with "Random Background Character with No Name or Personality nº248" just to push their progressive agenda and insisted all were black or trans, or typical SJW crap. I personally found them much more insufferable than the fujos bc like always they forced their opinions to be "the rightful ones" and such. (fuck that Christmas couple, how Tumblr liked them so much I'll never get it).


Why does Osomatsu attract such SJW autism anyhow? The show has like little to no SJW-appeal stuff, unlike something like Yuri on Ice or Steven Universe or Undertale.

Probably because there are a lot of characters to sperg out on. And if you think about it, every single fandom - not even the show/game/story itself - have one thing in common--shipping. No one can just enjoy content without having to ship two or more characters together and I think because Osomatsu-san is so devoid of shipping opportunities (aside from OsoToto and JyushiHomu) they have to find it elsewhere. And in a show like this that can throw canon out of the window in the very next episode they get even more furiously inclined to ship and have it their way. They need to ship something, someone, anyone. Have you seen a fandom wherein they don't ship at least two people together? Yea. There are none. So they project themselves onto certain characters by giving them different sexualities in order to make it feel more like them, and pair that character with another character they subconsciously like. It's kind of a form of self insertion.

My theory on why jyushihomu is generally accepted is because she’s introduced as being suicidal and not too conventionally attractive. I think she’s prime projection bait. (she is best girl tho)

Precisely. By finding this one character to live through, they do all in their power to make sure they have the right relationship that the person themselves would want to have. Maybe they don't like the character romantically but the way they are is something they find attractive. They're all karas looking for their Chibita to cheer them up and be their guide, kind of thing.

Jeez. I've been in this fandom for so long I easily recognize almost all of the artists listed. I had no idea they drew these things, except for the penis Karako one (I think I've seen them draw Karako with a penis unclothed before). You're right, it is really annoying. I really hate when people have to push a character ooc for their own purposes--it just gets so irritating and confusing. None of the brothers would be trans, they're identical twins. If one of them has a vagina then they all do, that's not difficult to understand.

I have some trans friends that draw matsus with vags (though I dont think it’s cringe at all because they know its ooc, they know it’s projection, and they make it as a dumb au and don’t try to claim it’s canon) and they seem to have passed under the tumblr radar because their trans-ness is plastered all of their bios

but i do remember seeing a LOT of shit about todokara’s ex when their username was pussyichi (or something like that) and people were more angry at that than the whole. yknow. zoophilia thing.

The Jyushi/Homu ship is pretty widely known and accepted, maybe because he's the only brother that doesn't seem like he'd go for anyone else? Who knows.

Basic empathy for more successful creators ("You wouldn't like it if you made something and the fans told you that you were wrong, would you?") is beyond your average Tumblrina.

The Osomatsu-san fandom does a shit ton of reaching when it comes to relationships and pairings because they focus on the brothers so much. And if you're not a BLmatsu shipper you have to find your ships somewhere else. When you could - ya know - just not ship anyone, a show doesn't have to have romantic subtexts to be enjoyed. But this is tumblr so of course they have to ship for the sake of projecting and filling some kind of agenda. The brothers are all straight af (aside from Karamatsu who has canonically been interested in males too--though not sure if it's out of desperation, probably is) so even incest is out of the question. Nyaa-chan is married, Totoko is straight and has never shown interest in women, and Chibita is just...Chibita. I don't think he would want a relationship with someone who annoys the shit out of him and won't pay for his fucking meal. Just let the show be a stupid comedy, christ. I dislike the Karabita ship quite heavily.

What I don't get is why they make both Karamatsu and Todomatsu trans. They're supposed to be identical sextuplets.
