Glenn Jacobs, otherwise known as famous WWE wrestler Kane, appears to have won the GOP primary for Mayor of Knox County, Tenn., Tuesday night.

Jacobs has apparently beat Brad Anders in the mayoral primary, earning 17 more votes than Anders — 14,633 to 14,616 — with 100 percent of precincts reporting their votes, WATE reported. Since the race is so close, the results are not yet official, according to Yahoo.

The former pro wrestler will now take on Democratic candidate Linda Haney, who beat her opponent, Rhonda Gallman 7,662 to 1,924.

“Thanks to everyone who helped win this historic victory!! The people who cast a ballot for me, my great team, my wonderful volunteers,” Jacobs tweeted. “Looking forward to VICTORY in the general election!”

Jacobs, 51, focused his campaign on lowering taxes, creating jobs, education and limited government.

All that needs to be counted are the provisional ballots and the winners of the primary will be declared.

Is our entire government going to eventually become the WWF roster circa 1997? I mean, I'm totally okay with that, but I'd like at least a few months notice to set up all the ladders and folding chairs before-hand. I can't wait to see the Congressional hearings in a few years, I've long said we should just say the Hell with it and decide every major, congressional motion via cage matches.

I fucking love this stupid country so much.

Looking at the amount of people who turned up to vote for or against him, and then at the people who went to vote for or against his next opponent, I think he has this easily in the bag.

Why are wrestlers always the best politicians?

Shame that Jesse Ventura lost favor with the right because of that American Sniper jackass.
Because they know exactly how to work a crowd, they almost always come from low-to-middle income families, and they've spent their entire careers actually working on something and dealing first-hand with those same low-to-middle income communities. You couldn't be a popular, successful wrestler without also being a crowd-pleaser, and that leaves you in constant contact with the same middle American families that you came from before your wrestling career.

Those kinds of atmospheres create skills that transfer much better to politics than most people really give them credit. We've been told for the longest time that politics are best left to the "best and brightest" and the most highly-educated people from the most-exclusive, upper-class schools, but if anything has been systematically proven to be true, it's that the best politicians always seem to be relatively normal, down-to-earth, charismatic people who actually listen to their constituents rather than some upper-crust prick who's more concerned with his next champagne social than with addressing the concerns of his community.

They are good actors with a flair for the dramatic and comfortable speaking angrily and coherently to large crowds. These are unironically very useful skills for a politician to have.
