I tried to make him more tolerable somehow. I don't have much time since I got to deal with a stuff, but the fixes:
-Body type: I think it's overdone by these people to force too many hideous features so that if they look somewhat... less crazier than this, -they- can be 'acceptable.' Like trying to define, 'beauty standards.'
There's a reason our mind sees healthy as beauty though. Which brings it to the next point...
-If you want to promote something, in a, "This is what ____ looks like," you should use something appealing. No beautiful gay man is going to wear tacky faux walmart athletic grundies+bra set. Even normal underwear is better than that.
*The tattoo says, 'queer,' but that doesn't always mean trans, or androgynous. So the whole forcing of characters to look like both to be LGBTQA is out of hand. I could have easily made this character a woman, but I think a beautiful man was/is more fun and challenging.
*Hands need fixed up and tattoos are just a mess like the rest, but just in case I get struck by one of those Indiana Tornadoes tomorrow(lol), hopefully you guys got to at least enjoy the sketch.
*Edit: I heard people were artpooning. (The 2D art version of harpooning, 'wtf,' level Tumblr art) I figured I'd give it a shot!

While the idea of a racebent Lum is interesting, there's a better way to do it while keeping her on-model.
I gave them both irises, trimmed Lum’s ears (she’s an alien, not an elf), added some makeup, "waxed" their brows, got rid of the neon eyesores in the background (and made it darker so it would have better contrast), and voila! Lum looks more like herself, and her darling is no longer the Nazi from the Raiders of the Lost Ark opening!

After looking at a lot of these original drawings, it seems obvious where some comic book companies are recruiting their "talent." I wish they would hire all of you instead of talentless tumblrinas...

Waaaay back in the day, I really wanted to work for Marvel. Sent them submissions, contacted their artists for tips and suggestions. But life eventually got in the way and although I'd still like to become an actual published artist, looking at what Marvel considers acceptable art now just absolutely disgusts me. Coloring is bland, there is no decent composition, basic understanding of how perspective works is gone, there is no dynamic movement and next to every gesture and background feels like it was traced from reference images. It's just so much lazy dogshit and/or the ones who are actually competent artists are behind stupid deadlines or obviously have no motivation to do anything other than to get a paycheck. So... yes, I would totally agree with you.
Also, my compliments to you intrepid warriors who would sacrifice your time and sanity to redraw this tripe. You are magnificent bastards, each and every one of you.
