I asked my friend and she thinks so? People on the mod forum would complain about floods of dumb reports which probably would only matter if that was the case.

IIRC, posts could only be reported once and there was a limit on how many you could report.

Later iterations of vBulletin software had a built-in feature nearly identical to the SA report feature that's been described here. You could choose to assign reports to be collected and posted by a designated "bot" account and each report would be posted as a new thread in a chosen forum. If multiple people reported the same post the duplicates would appear as additional posts in the same report thread, bumping it to the top in the event that it had not yet been dealt with by a moderator (and showing the number of "replies" as well to help mods prioritize more urgent reports over others).

Seems like SA tried to cobble together this exact functionality since they were unable to update SA's vBulletin core due to how extensively/poorly it was modified.

The Games subforum used to be pretty okay as long as you stayed away from threads for stuff like Life is Strange or whatever. But for the last year or so it's been really bad with the off-topic politics witchhunts. Like out of nowhere someone will bring something up and a multi-thread derail will take place where everyone virtue-signals in a massive circlejerk only rivaled by ResetERA. For example, a thread was discussing why Where the Water Tastes Like Wine was such a massive failure and someone mentioned maybe not paying out the ass for Sting to narrate your game with an example of a little known talent putting out a good performance.

Edit: Oh and now some triggered goon is tweeting the developers warning them they've got a "muslim hating nazi bigot" that voiced their game and should take her voice out IMMEDIATELY.

That was a long time coming. I liked the thread because people were rationally talking about how stupid video games journalism is for a really long time. The balance at first was tilted toward those people but as time passed the thread attracted more "Um, Actually" D&D posters. Becoming a perpetual argument is thread death because the mods don't want to sort out the hundreds of post long derails when a fat slob wants to argue that it wasn't technically impossible for black people to exist in Kingdom Come: Deliverance's setting so therefore you are wrong for making fun of people boycotting it.

I figured this is what happened after it started getting hundreds of new posts every day. That thread used to make fun of resetera for its cock-stroking seriousposts but I guess they gazed into that abyss a little too long.

It wasn't even that many people, it was 2 asshats (Panzeh and AshCrimson, who both show up to shit all over any GBS thread making even slightly fun of left leaning stuff) basically going "YOU'RE ALL EVIL RIGHT WINGERS" and white knighting known pedos and rape apologists/rapists while making constant but also conflicting arguments. Several posters kept going "Don't engage these people" but their stupidity reached such a degree that they couldn't help but respond to them.

Also near the end a "Kill La Kill is pedophilia" argument erupted and some jackass came in with "It's not pedophilia, they are 17 so it's actually ephebophilia" and that probably gave them the last pretext needed to gas the thread.

There is a couple IRCs where the thread raids are coordinated from. Or atleast that was the case years ago, I think a lot of it is done in facebook now. You'd see the same group perma-outraged daddie's money commies come through to thought police threads they'd never posted in before. If you checked any of the triggered poster's post history, you'd see them mention in QCS or one of their hugbox threads "I heard about this thread in IRC and had to go screech there to bring these thought criminals to the attention of the mods".
