We already derailed over this. For those late to the party: negotiate with the provider and the price comes down, because what they bill insurance isn't the real cost.
The only time I've seen something not get negotiated below 10K was when they had to open your chest cavity because of how long the surgery takes multiplied by the number of experienced staff required. But I also never saw any spinal surgeries get negotiated, so its possible those are also long & expensive. But my money is on some combination of Lowtax sucking at negotiating and, despite his crying poverty, having a good bit in the way of assets.

He could also be lying about even paying the medical bills at all. He is already in debt and hasn't bothered to pay his taxes so I don't know why people expect him to suddenly start caring about his credit score.
He was buying hearthstone pulls with the goon donations he got for crying about hosting costs so there is no reason to think this time is going to be any different.
