Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

Fuck's sake.

Before I left to go do something, everything was normal. Then I come back to see at the very top of Kiwi Farms, "total biscuit is fucking dead."

It was, uh... it wasn't what I expected, I tell you what.

TB, his content was garbage. His personality was garbage. His animosity towards games that played under 60 FPS (even those specifically designed for 30 FPS) was garbage. His tendency to shove the camera into walls in 3rd-person games, and then shit on the textures despite the fact they were never meant to be seen that close... was ESPECIALLY garbage. But god-damn... there was something admirable about how much of a stubborn dickhead he was.

I've gotta' press F... I just gotta'.

Were they even close? It'd really suck to have the closest thing you've ever had to a child barely remember you as a distant slob who'd occasionally have an awkward talk with him about how things are going.

He did retweet both the TB and Genna's Tweet so dunno. He is like 10* and something like this is shit you tend to remember.

*Turns out after checking he's 14.

Called it.

Never understood this tendency to speak about dead people in a better light. From what little I even knew about him he seemed to be a cunt. All kinds of people die each day. There's no system or fairness to it.

I know we throw the word 'autistic' around here a lot but do you really not understand how people might decide to focus on the good things about someone who just died? We're not talking about a child-raping monster here, or Hitler (who also liked his dogs!). We're talking about someone whose most significant 'crimes' (based on the thread here) appear to be acting like a cunt to some strangers on twitter.

I'd say it's part of the human condition to tone down the shit-talking on someone who just suffered an agonizing death (oof there's over a month wait for a colonoscopy near here) and think about the 'good times' or, from the outside, to chill out of respect for those who are trying to do the former. Maybe it's a form of social insurance, that we'd like to believe others would hesitate to call us assholes the day we died.

Now, I totally get that there are also those that get edgy around death for a variety of reasons and I'm neither surprised nor upset that people are making fun of him on this and other largely anonymous sites. Gallows humor is a thing. But in general I think that it's pretty normal to take a break from focusing on the shittiest things that someone has done- which is often what makes it into these threads and is sometimes pretty minor- and maybe try and think of someone as more human and sympathetic immediately after they die.

One toast with me, your glasses fill,
Aye, fill them level with the brim,
De mortuis, nisi bonum, nil
The lights are growing dim.

Even though it was bound to happen and the guy was an insufferable dick with his head too far up his ass, it sad to see him go. So long space cowboy.

I think it's important that even someone as goofy or as lulzy as John Bain. Are at the end of the day still human. Out of all the Lolcows on the site he was the least lolcowy. He had a wife, a son, a successful channel he made it. Yes he was a snob, yes he could be a cunt, and yes his weird political spergey near the end was fun to laugh at. He was still a human. He lived a great life, and had a terrible death. God bless you magnificent bastard and may Heaven be in 1080P and in 60 FPS

The only thing about John Bain that irked me is the trap question. But I've absolved him of it in my books months ago as I believe that he is deserving of cleaning his karma upon death. I could only shit upon people rejoicing in his passing. Thanks for the vids TB. You will be missed.
