Piracy General

it is fucking crazy how fucked the state of browsing and sites and software is right now.

I keep sitting down to update this shit but something changes or is not quite ready and I have to put it off a little while longer.

one major thing is that Firefox is now pretty much the only viable browser. Chromium security has gone down the shitter while Firefox Quantum is amazingly safe. And safety is paramount. all the firefox forks are all dead or obsolete.

Firefox was also able to fix Meltdown vulnerabilities much more elegantly than Chrome, which is still struggling to patch holes. Right now the best fixes are disabling a lot of the shit that made it a safe browser in the first place, like process isolation. fucking weird.
Is there a DownThemAll equivalent for Chrome? Firefox killed a lot of plugin support and that one went too, and the creator is dragging his heels on updating DTA for quantum because he effectively needs to start from scratch

There's a separate "old firefox" version of firefox. It's not a great solution but it's the only thing I've found. As a word of warning bouncing between the two nukes my browser history and I have to reinstall DTA each time.
It really kinda sucks but not as much as everything that isn't DTA.

Damn, a lot of my favorite sites in the OP. One thing, though a bit specific: http://panda.chaika.moe/ is a go-to source for Fakku releases. tl;dr is Fakku and Wanimagazine caused a copyright clusterfuck for the US. There's also the tracker subreddit which has a decent excel doc of specific private tracker sites(some are possible to join like pornbay, some are just always closed, some are off and on open)by category.

I knew I wasn't alone in data hoarding in the world but I recently realized just how not alone I was when I discovered there's a subreddit dedicated to data hoarders like myself.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Rutracker. One of the best Russian trackers, and has a huge collection of music and games. Here's a little guide since it's in Russian:
1)Input whatever you want into this field

2)Find a suitable torrent
3)Click dis:

You are done!
Another great place to search for music is 4chan's RebeckaBlackTech /mu/ archive. If you input "(insert artist or album name here) mega", you can reliably find almost any album, thanks to /mu/'s users great sharethreads. Also here's a cool pastebin with a shitton of artists including /mu/core: https://pastebin.com/7Syxr4rZ
And last, but not least, Soulseek is a good file-sharing program where a lot of more obscure albums often float around. I'd recommend checking it out if you can't find an album anywhere.
