In my opinion Phil is expecting three things out of this. His fans to play him and throw the match to bump up his win/loss numbers, some detractor to show up that Phil bodies so he can brag, and for anyone of note to show up and try to save his channel from obscurity. After all the shit he talked about Drake/Ninja it is a Phil move to try to do the exact same thing.

Didn't he try to set something up with a wrestler? Somewhere in Phil's mind you know he's hoping that guy somehow sees this tweet and says "Holy shit! Phil is doing open lobbies. Clear my fucking calender I need to fulfill a make a wish for a 36 year old manchild."

Three days of Tweets:

Yup, that's over 10 Tweets a day. Here's a collage of what a typical three day period of DSP Tweets looks like by category (announcements, DSPositive, and bitching):

I love this kind of post. It's always nice to see DSP's words lined up against empirical facts like this. The colour coding only helps my autism.

No doubt you took all those tweets out of context though d00d

I think this is the tweet to kenny omega, he was recently started in the SFV trailer as Cody.

Edit: the comments are great in this feed

Would you live with someone like that, period?

Does this Tweet imply that Kat is sleeping in Leanna's old office where Kat has her PC and other vidya set up? That room is directly across the hall from Phil's 'office', the bedroom I wouldn't really describe as 'across the hall', it's at the end of the hall on the back of the house. Also how loud would Phil have to be yelling to disturb someone's sleep who's like 30 to 35 feet away behind 2 closed doors on the other end of the house?

I've got to think that if him streaming would disturb Kat's sleep she must be sleeping in the room her PC is set up in directly across the hall that shares a wall with Phil's 'office'. This would explain the rigid stream end-times where he has to stop streaming because Kat needs to go to sleep in the room directly across the hall that shares a wall.

This would make his 'I can't keep streaming because I HAVE A LIFE!' excuse extra exceptional because he doesn't have special time scheduled with Kat before she goes to sleep, she just needs him to STFU so she can sleep.

People are so used to him raging over the smallest things and being bad at most games that forget that Phil is actually decent at fighting games. So even if he complains, even if he whines... he tends to have a positive win-to-lose ratio. So... yeah, I wasn't expecting him to get demolished or anything.

That said, from what I've heard, he doesn't play Ranked, so he always plays against people that don't care about rank, and thus, probably, don't care about improving.

Almonds activated. Could it be that Phil is in the doghouse over his recent Instagram photos? I think it's more likely Kat sleeps there because she has to get up early and Phil goes to bed late and has sleep apnea, therefore snores loudly like the big fat fucker he is.

Yesterday he won against Soma with ease. Yes, the real Soma.
But then the next opponent played a quite good Ken and Phil admitted his own awful play.
Suddenly the moves won't come out and he couldn't parry without reason. Unearned win, dood. And the Ken "wasn't even good". Chat disagreed. The sodium tank was filled.

Next match was legit awful lag, not kidding, it was like 2 FPS. Phil said nothing (well, it spoke for itself).

Just a small story to think about.

I'll give Soma some fucking cred if he mans up and uploads one of his edits where he shows himself taking a ramming from DSP.

Damn, all ports of the game seem to report absolutely atrocious netcode. This is his one chance to legitimately blame the netcode but he's too inept to know it. Unearned kahreer.

Phil is always in a good mood day one when he can body scrubs.

In six weeks when he's getting wrecked by players who are still around (good forbid he ever plays ranked, that should have been his real sub reward) he'll go to his usual well of shit netcode.

Found this funny:

Say's Chun Li is the easiest character in the game while he uses Ken. Ken, BTW, is probably the 2nd easiest or maybe the easiest character in the game. Chun's super is stupidly good but you still have to know some things in order to be good with her. If you know how to play a Shoto then you're pretty much good to go when it comes to picking Ken. The only thing you have to know with him is that his Super Art 3 is his best super and one of the absolute best supers in the game.

At 7:09 wow. He mashed out the SRK after the Chun blocked the super. Supers in Third Strike are massively unsafe on block excluding a character like Ibuki. Phil most likely knows how unsafe it is and mashed out the SRK anyway because he was hoping lag would let him do it.

8:10 Pardon my sperging but Phil's pronunciation of character names just pisses me off. He calls Elena "Ellah-Nah" instead of how everyone in the fucking world including Japan pronounces her name as "E-Lee-Na." Same with Makoto. He pronounces it as "Mah-kah-do" when it's "Moe-co-toe" Very simple but his tiny peanut brain cannot say those names correctly. Also, Elena is a pretty easy character to use. She's kind of like a Shoto but without fireballs. You just have to know her kara-throw, her confirm into super, and some of her best pokes and you're good. If you can use Ryu/Ken/Akuma then you can use Elena.

A lot of the people he was playing had no skills. 1 Vega player did nothing but wall dives so Phil was just mashing DP to counter him. Phil also played Kekon who did nothing but block the entire set.

Phil was also using the lag to his benefit to win a lot of matches. It was mostly an unwatchable stream as the lag and audio were awful and Phil brags like a child every time he wins and whines like a bitch when he loses. He’s insufferable when he wins.

Good irresponsible speculation regarding the possibility of separate bedrooms. I never understood how DSP can go to bed at two in the fucking morning after watching TV and movies, but he can't stream because it makes too much noise. I would think someone getting in bed next to you halfway through the night every single day for months would make you feel gross all the time. Maybe there's merit to the theory that they don't sleep in the same room anymore, if they ever did.

He gets demolished. A lot.

Phil's playstyle reminds me of how he plays videogames in general, or even handles his life - stubborn like a brat who tries to win with the only 2-3 moves he knows. Well, he knows these moves, but he decided to ignore them on purpose. Reminds me of this one scenario where he accidentally did a Tiger Knee with Sagat: "This is not what I wanted, dood". When I see people play the same game I'm usually surprised the characters can do more than 3 different attacks. I dunno, limiting himself and ignore other possibilities isn't really the mark of a good fighting-game-player. Sure, he's good in these limits but as soon as someone sees through his routine and comes up with new approaches, Phil is usually done.

I dunno. I've been getting off of work at 2 am and haven't had any issues waking anyone up. Depends on the type of bed though. We all know Phil doesn't buy cheap shit (unless it's gin). If they are actually sleeping in separate beds I'm not really surprised. I expect two people who had only met three times and known eachother a couple of months before moving in to do so. It takes a long time to get used to living with someone. You don't know shit about someone until you've lived with them. They skipped the phase where you come over all the time and you get to know the person's weird little habits and quirks. That's where you realize if you are actually compatible with someone. Visiting them once a month or so isn't getting the real version of them. Can you spend the majority of the day with this person and not want to stab them in the throat? Phil rushed it, and it's possible that they don't even like eachother.

Some thoughts:
  • Day 1 of a classic Street Fighter re-release, Philbert will do well. Not necessarily because he's a great player, but because he knows combos and can overwhelm with aggression against people still feeling out the game
  • Once people have gotten a chance to play the game regularly for several weeks, Philly will start running into more trouble since he does not play offstream/will play other games in the mean time
  • Dave lacks any strategy or sense of timing, if properly baited he will get dominated and his win/loss will tank until he quits/moves on to another fighting game
  • Even during wins he will still be salty about getting hit by "unearned illegitimate" damage since he was totally blocking during that jump-in/recovery dood
  • DSP is to frame data what CWC is to internet girlfriends i.e. he never learns
TL;DR - Past is prologue, time + atrophy = salty rage

It's all relative. Phil likes to throw his fightan game fundamentals around, and big up his professional achievements - he called himself the former best Deejay player in the world just last week I think - so I think it's fair to judge him by those standards. By FGC standards, he is trash. By the standards of high-level competitive ranked play, he is trash. By average guy on the street standards he'll win more often than not, but as he moves up the rankings he'll hit his skill wall earlier than you'd expect. It's already started to happen in fact. People rip on him not because he's bad at fighting games, but because he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

Even his fundamentals are bad. For example:

You're fighting a Shoto (Ryu/Ken/Akuma, basically any characters with fireballs and an SRK so Sagat would technically count as a Shoto) and knock them down putting them in a situation where you have Oki.

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Glossary_of_fighting_games#Okizeme

The Shoto player can do wakeup SRK which has invincibility and will beat meaty attacks (Meaty's are timed attacked that interrupt your opponent's wakeup). Phil never respects the SRK and just goes for a meaty or he'll play it extra lame and just hang back and chuck fireballs on their wakeup which will get him very little damage if the Shoto was autistic enough not to block that.

Plus other things like he just doesn't adapt to tick throws, to crossups, and never takes his game beyond a very basic level of understanding.

Let's take Third Strike for example:

Phil has fucked around with Dudley (the black boxer dude who isn't modeled on Tyson). Dudley is pretty easy to use once you understand his pokes and his combo's. Dudley also has some amazing extended combos in the corner against specific characters. And there's a really easy one that works on about half the cast where Dudley can land Sweep (crouch HK) and juggle you up to 4 times if you have the timing right.

Dudley also has a very scary Oki game in the corner where he can combo from an overhead into a super that lets him put you in another 50/50 situation.

Does Phil demonstrate any of these abilities with the character? Nope. Does he bother to try? Nope. He's probably aware of them but when he loses with Dudley or whoever he'll just blame the game, blame the lag, blame the tiers, etc.

2 frames is perfectly playable.
