What are the Worst Movies of All Time? - The thread for discussing celluloid syphilis

The difficult thing about this is separating out the movies that are so bad they're good and the movies that are so bad they suck. Also, either of that class of movie can be provisionally good if you can enjoy their awfulness or share their awfulness with friends while riffing on how awful they are.

I'd say the worst movies are really somewhere in the middle of the bottom tier, where they're neither so outrageously bad that they have humor value, or at least can be mocked for amusement, but they're just completely unenjoyable. I usually forget those immediately, though, so somewhere in my forgotten movie list, there probably dwells a worst movie of all time.

The ones you don't remember are the worst.

This is why The Room is actually so bad it's good, because as terrible as it is, it is also clearly a labor of love. Tommy Wiseau may have ultimately embraced his ironic role as the auteur of awful movies, but he really wanted to make a great movie.

That's also why Ed Wood's horrible movies are so charming. As bad as they are, there's a sincere human personality under there and you can't help but have feels even while laughing at the sheer awfulness.

Yeah, you can tell when a movie had love put into it. Everything about it is so unique and authentic, a true window into the director's mind. Shit like Sharknado is the director's equivalent of canned laughter. I think that's a good way to rate the quality of a movie, how authentic or cookie-cutter/me-too it is.
