One can only marvel at what additional “effort”, besides totally supporting Jake in every way that one could imagine, that Jake is demanding from his mom...and resents her for not doing it.
Between housing, feeding and cleaning up after him his Mom must be slacking on chauffeuring him around and sending out his resumes.
