Bethesda's show was pretty bad. Doom 5 or Doom 2 or whatever looks good even though we didn't get any gameplay. Seeing more gameplay in Fallout 76 has me interested.

So two games out of that presentation look good.
 
Bethesda had an absolutely dreadful show. Aside from Todd "Who's laughing now" Howard, every single one of the speakers on stage looked scared shitless. Like the people in their respective studios drew straws and the losers got pushed out on stage.

But, I am not gonna lie, they made me giggle with the Skyrim Really Special Edition. That was kinda amusing.

I barely knew what SCP was until this year; I think I ran into Jolly Wanker's So I Installed SCP Mods videos once or twice but I didn't really follow up on it.

Even so, I'm fascinated at how much this community devolved. They took a somewhat interesting idea and completely destroyed it with irrelevant identity politics shit. I honestly can't believe someone was stupid enough to make a story about a transgender satellite with a Tumblr blog and have it be completely serious.

I knew there was something up over there from reading the talk and comment pages which read sort of like the talk page on a RationalWiki article, so I'm not altogether surprised this has happened.

It is weird SJWism is making inroads into horror now. I think Count Jackula said it best when he said horror and SJWism generally don't mix because SJWism is about enforcing polite society whereas horror is about being as depraved and extreme as possible and therefore has nothing to offer polite society.

I agree. You can see that effects in the new World of Darkness when Oynx Path took over writing the books. The original books they did are AWFUL and a lot of their progressive points and characters backfire to make them unlikable and horrible which stick out like a sore thumb amongst the usual WoD dark supernatural setting. They also did a few visual novel games for Vampire that are hamfisted with progressive politics and punk gay anarchist Vampires going on about Trump. Yeah. Because 200 year old vampires are concerned about human politics and sexuality. They wouldn't give a fuck. Humans are food. That's it.

Luckily Lovecraft CoC hasn't been touched for the most part by SJWs but I have seen some Twitter sjws bitch about the insanity part because muh neurotypical ableism which seems silly since the main core is the threat of insanity and madness.

I just don't get it. If horror at it's core doesn't interest you and you have to fundamentally change the setting/story/whatever then why are you even interested? Go find something else.

Not very well-versed with the fictional lore of SCP in general, but I did find a good amount of beings I've read very interesting and actually helped me think of things for my works that wouldn't have come to the surface without some sort of muse.

It really gets my goat when these oversensitive and aggressive hyper-buzzkills strangle artistic creativity because "muh feelings, reeeee!!!"
But here's the thing about artistic creativity:

It's supposed to work that way.

Good creativity, be it in a painting or a book or play, movie - any sort of good entertainment - is supposed to invoke some sort of feeling in you. It means the creator has done their job right and done it well.
Edvard Munch's The Scream give you unsettling vibes? Good, because Munch (at that time) successfully dumped all his feelings of existential crisis and panic into that work and made you feel how he felt.

The entries found on the SCP wiki do the same thing - they're written to make you feel disgusted or unsettled or afraid of the monsters they created and if your response to feeling those emotions is to stop people from making you feel that way...

Then that's really sad and pathetic.
