Also, (:powerlevel, and I'm sure lots of people disagree, but as an innocent employee who has been exposed to LEO-grade OC spray multiple times, including getting splash in my eyes, (even though my department didn't even issue it to any of our staff) it seems utterly ridiculous to me how much people act like he shot someones finger off. It sucks really bad and you feel like your dying and your face and eyeballs are burning alive (if it got on your face in the first place), but you change and wash and it eventually goes away, and you wake up the next day and are fine and get on with your life. Which you haven't managed to do for four years despite you not even being the victim! But I'm sure that's just deep "empathy," right?

Getting sprayed in the face by hardcore spray is literally part of required training for hundreds of cadets around the country, but the a-logs act like someone getting hit in the shirt with a little can of over-the-counter mace is a war crime. For a certain department proximate to my location, when their staff got spray on themselves, they would make them clean off in cold water, change, do their paper work them send them back to work coughing and teary-eyed. It seems so weird how differently it's viewed here than with innocent employees hosed with it in RL.

I'm not saying what he did was fine, it's a horrible thing to do to someone I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies, and he deserved his jail time and possibly a felony record. And things could have been much worse if the victim had a condition. But it was a very temporary harm, which you seem to be implying makes years and years of harrassment and stalking the moral option. I would much rather be pepper sprayed in the face many, many times (much less the shirt) than deal with what Chris does.

Do the people who criticize Chris for his awful grasp of finance, laziness and lack of respect for personal boundaries not realize he is severely autistic? Because those are textbook "adult with autism" issues. Especially one with the kind of support network Chris had growing up - that is, none.
Obviously @Null can't "cure" his autism or go back in time and revert over a decade of continuous abuse, both online and in person, some of which was perpetrated by users of this very forum. But if he's willing to take the time to help an adult child such as Chris get through the day unmolested, then good for him. It's the least he can do.

Agree, at least Chris grew up with both parents, who coddled him. ADF grew up with crippled mother and a daddy sex fetish while being influenced by his older more autistic brother, who was put away for biting and violence. Not to mention being chronically poor while CWC grew up the son of a very well to do decorated engineer. I don't like ADF, but if this were a telethon, Chris would be fucked to say the least.

A lot of people wanted to see a repeat of Magfest, but they got this instead. Magfest worked because Chris was not in charge, which is more evidence he needs a handler.

I wonder if going back to that specific profile picture is Chris making some kind of statement. Because you know, Chris being Chris, as intentional as it seems, it may very well have been a random decision with the connection with the TMG shitstorm flying over his head.

The difference there are professionals with training vs. randos with no experience. Things have to be explained in a different way with someone with cognitive impairments.

My point wasn't that they're similar, it's that every lolcow has had a less than ideal life. ADF had a fucked up childhood. Far less fucked up than Chris's. Yeah, ADF is a terrible person, but Chris is no saint, either. He is a lazy, coddled manchild who refuses to get off his lazy, coddled ass and confront his own situation to improve his life. How is Chris sympathetic?
