It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

Happy Fourth of July – or maybe not.

The Democratic National Committee's annual Fourth of July statement reflects its long-standing tensions with President Donald Trump.

While hailing the nation's founding ideal of equality for all, DNC chairman Tom Perez said in the statement, "we recognize that America’s founding promise remains out of reach for too many families."

Adding that "everywhere we look, our most fundamental values are under attack," Perez referred to problems surrounding low-paying jobs, health care, immigration, injustice to people of color and members or the LGBTQ community, a recent Supreme Court decision on public unions, and the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy.

"Thousands of children have been separated from their parents at our southern border," Perez said. "At our highest court, workers' rights are being taken away, voting rights are under assault, Muslim Americans are being discriminated against for their faith, and women's right to choose is under threat like never before."

While he did not cite Trump by name, Perez's list deals with White House policies.

Perez closed by saying, "as we celebrate our nation's independence, Democrats reaffirm our commitment to fighting for the values of inclusion and opportunity for everyone."

The Republicans, in control of the White House and Congress, issued a more upbeat statement about the Fourth of July.

"As we celebrate more than two centuries of independence, we honor the patriots who declared America a free nation in 1776," said Ronna McDaniel, chairwoman of the Republican National Committee. "We also remember and thank our service members for their lasting dedication and countless sacrifices to guard our liberties."

McDaniel pledged "to uphold America’s founding principles and continue to fight for our inalienable rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all."

Here is the Democratic statement in full:
“Nearly two and a half centuries ago, a band of patriots gathered in Philadelphia to declare that ‘all men are created equal.’ Our nation has changed dramatically since those words were first written on parchment. Generations of brave Americans – from service members to civil rights activists – have fought to expand the promise of equality for more Americans and move our country forward in its march toward a more perfect union.

“As we celebrate our nation’s independence, we recognize that America’s founding promise remains out of reach for too many families. Too many members of our society are still struggling to find a good-paying job or get the health care they need. Too many women, LGBTQ Americans, people of color, and people with disabilities still face inequality and injustice across our society.

“Everywhere we look, our most fundamental values are under attack. Thousands of children have been separated from their parents at our southern border. At our highest court, workers' rights are being taken away, voting rights are under assault, Muslim Americans are being discriminated against for their faith, and women's right to choose is under threat like never before.

“The Democratic Party believes that all people are created equal – no matter who they are, where they come from, who they love, or how they pray. As we celebrate our nation's independence, Democrats reaffirm our commitment to fighting for the values of inclusion and opportunity for everyone."

Officials in South Africa are investigating an incident where a woman was declared dead at the scene of a crash, taken to a morgue, placed in a freezer and then discovered to be alive.

Gauteng's Department of Health is investigating a June 24 crash that occurred west of Johannesburg where three people were flung from a vehicle and two were killed, according to local news source News24.

Paramedics declared three people dead at the scene, and forensic officers transported the bodies to a morgue. Several hours later, an officer discovered a woman from the crash was alive in a morgue freezer, the publication reports.

The determination of death was made by Distress Alert paramedics, who followed all protocols to check for life, Distress Alert operations manager Gerrit Bradnick told local news source TimesLIVE.

“This did not happen because our paramedics are not properly trained. There is no proof of any negligence by our crew‚” he said.

Bradnick told the New York Times that the accident that led to mis-declaration occurred in a bad stretch of road where paramedics were in danger as they responded to the crash: "Cars were coming at high speed and we kept having to run away through the ditches. It was absolute chaos.”

There is no national government oversight of ambulance businesses in the region, according to the Times. However, ambulance workers must register with the nation's Health Professionals Council.

“Anyone can open an ambulance service — it’s completely unregulated outside the Western Cape,” Jo Park-Ross, a paramedic in Cape Town, told the publication.

The woman remained hospitalized and in critical condition, a spokesman for the Gauteng provincial health department told the Times on Monday.

The author of the "Harry Potter" books must think President Donald Trump is a mere mugglewhen it comes to his writing skills.

J.K. Rowling, the British author who turned the "Harry Potter" series into a multi-billion-dollar franchise, expressed her glee Tuesday via social media at Trump's latest typo-blunder when he boasted about his talents as a wordsmith.

Trump's boast came in a tweet, since deleted, that misspelled "pour" after he bragged about his "ability to write." The original tweet read:

"After having written many best selling books, and somewhat priding myself on my ability to write, it should be noted that the Fake News constantly likes to pour over my tweets looking for a mistake. I capitalize certain words only for emphasis, not b/c they should be capitalized!"

Hours later, Trump corrected himself, using the correct spelling — "pore" — in a tweet:

The president's tweets drew the attention of Rowling, who expressed her amusement in a series of tweets. She burst out in digital laughter.

Merriam-Webster also poked fun at Trump's mistake, tweeting definitions of “pore over”: “to read or study very carefully,” and “pour over”: “to make expensive coffee." The online dictionary also took an indirect jab at Trump's hairstyle by providing a definition to "comb over" in the tweet.

Others on social media joined in on lampooning the commander in chief:

Before his critical "pour" tweet about the press, Trump initially tweeted that The Washington Post is “a discgrace to journalism,” according to The Associated Press.

Fuck off. You suddenly care about immgration rights when Obama did the same thing Trump is doing for years but y'all didn't do shit. The same with worker's rights, when Obama was pushing jobs overseas to cheap labor or people hiring cheap labor at home. You don't give a fuck. You just wanna put one over on trump.

"our most fundamental values are under attack"

"a recent Supreme Court decision on public unions"

Being forced against your will to pay dues to a labor union is a fundamental American value? Hmm, that's an interesting take on things, Dave. I'd like to discuss this with you further, but first, I need you to

Jesus, these fucking people and their goddamn bullshit.
