I can actually understand why Jake insists he's asexual. It's because, on some level, he knows he's unfuckable and thinking about sex reminds him he's never going to get laid, that causes anxiety, and it's human nature to avoid things that make us anxious. Since he tries to avoid situations where he might end up thinking about sex, he thinks he's asexual, instead of having social anxiety. True asexuality is rare. It's real, but a lot of people who claim to be asexual just lack the social skills to obtain sex on their own merits and avoid it as a coping mechanism.

My take is that Jake deludes himself that his "interest" in Chelsea is in no way motivated by his urge to bone her, but rather just him being protective of a fellow goobergrape victim. From what I've seen on the family's social media accounts, the "Bobby's Day" celebrations are anything but morbid. I suspect Jake is just jealous that a dead person gets more attention and accolades than he does. Any sympathy I ever had for Jake evaporated with these quotes about the guy he called his "brother" when it got him sympathy. Gee, why can't poor Bobby's untimely sudden death be all about Jake all the time?

Imagine thinking some online bunfight was more important than spending time remembering a family member who recently died. From what I've seen on the family's social media accounts, the "Bobby's Day" celebrations are anything but morbid. I suspect Jake is just jealous that a dead person gets more attention and accolades than he does. Bobby lived a busy 19 years, and any recounting of his life only highlights what Jake has failed to do with his own.
