Yeah, people just use it as the poor man's Horrifying, which itself is a neutral rating. We're here in part for our morbid curiosity, so it seems counter-intuitive to negrate someone for sharing that type of content (I just use "Informative" in that case).

Of course, that makes me think we should just eliminate it. Get fucked poor people.

Honestly I don't care if a post containing unspoilered disgusting images get a meaningless yet negative rating, some content from lolcows that gets posted can he pretty gruesome, don't leave it like that without a spoiler.

I've always found the inconsistency between the usage of Islamic Content and its actual meaning a bit frustrating, but I have to admit that it's pretty funny inherently to think of an outsider lurking the forums and being confused by a whole thread full of bad fursuits getting slapped with 50+ Islam stickers. I personally almost never use the rating because I feel mean giving out any kind of negative feedback to on-topic posts, but that's far too autistic to ask for site-wide change.

I've only ever noticed one person with enough Islamic Content ratings that it actually makes them look like a shitty poster (as distinct from shitposter) until you check their profile, and that's because they almost exclusively post in the SJW art thread. In all honesty if you don't ever get any red ratings, you're not making any "unsafe" posts and that's boring. It just means you can read an echo chamber well and repeat back what it wants to hear so nobody calls you dumb.

As long as negative ratings don't have an effect on your actual account's standing, it isn't a pressing issue. I agree though, most of my negative ratings are IC.
 
I typically use it as a joke rating for posts related to Islam. I do it for the actual meaning too, but the forum is moderated well enough that that rarely crops up. Ahh well....
