Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

if i'm getting a PS4 it's going to be only for bloodborne because every other PS4 exclusive looks the fucking same
If you liked dark souls tillyo love blood borne

Also psVue is fucking legit

The fact that most "modern" MMO's can't seem to replicate 20% of City of Heroes options and features is annoying as shit. These "revolutionary MMORPG" that come out are just completely the same as the others and rarely offer any kind of innovation or even copying some of CoH's old options.

"Streamlining" and dumbing down of video games, from MMO's to "Press X to Win!" type games is starting to annoy me. To me it looks like they are removing features to save time/money on programming and acting like they're doing you a favor.

Is anyone else annoyed at that one hold-down-X-to-do-the-thing function that every fucking modern game has? You know, the one where you hold down a button, wait for a circle to fill up, and then you open the door, take the item, kill the guy etc etc etc?

It feels lazy and I don't understand the purpose. If it's to make the process longer and heighten tension, why not just make it a simple button press and make the animation slightly longer?

Story of Seasons and its sequel Trio of Towns are far superior to Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley is an amazing game and it's extremely impressive that one dude made the entire thing by himself but the charm wears off real quick. Not to mention the fan base gets extremely obnoxious with the white knighting whenever someone says anything remotely negative about the game.

I'm not at all upset at the serious trimming of the magic skill trees in Skyrim. In Oblivion 95% of the spells were useless novelty nonsense that were useless for practical gameplay and I honestly can't even remember ever casting a mentalism spell even when playing a pure mage.

I think Steam's Artifact game might actually stand a chance of becoming the top virtual CCG if it's any good because it's allowing players to sell virtual cards to other players (Which Steam takes a cut from).

the average gamer's knowledge of what games are out there to be played is so shallow, it only rivals music in narrowness.

i've seen way too many comments that can summarized as "blah blah blah, [insert western company here] is shitty, all western games are bad, gaming in the west is done for. i'm a weeb, i only play konichiwa no pantyknife tenten" or some shit

there are indie games on steam that are really good but don't have as much press as other indie games. and they don't cost much. sure most of them are puzzles, but they are good shit. (I recently 100% MEANDERS. 10 hours playtime. only 3 bucks. really fun, might start doing challenge runs)

I don't know how popular or unpopular this is because I can never get a grasp of the Zelda fanbase's opinions on anything post Wind Waker, but I genuinely loved Skyward Sword and it's one of my favorite games of the last generation. I can see why some people would hate it, because motion controls aren't going to click for everyone and the game is basically built on motion control. But I thought they were executed wonderfully, and I thought that it was more creative and intuitive with the motion controls than like 90% of the other games on the Wii.

Now I do agree that the game is way too long for it's own good. That's a major reason why I haven't completed it as much as other games in the series. And the game m.ilks the 3D Zelda formula bone-dry, moreso than Twilight Princess ever did, which can lead to some major fatigue near the end of the game. At the same time I thought the plot and characters were far more interesting than TP's, almost on the same level as Wind Waker.

GTA III has aged really badly, and a big reason why is the lack of an in-game map. The only thing you've got for navigation is the minimap, which barely helps when you have to drive over long distances (the taxi missions are especially annoying because of this). It doesn't help that places like AmmuNation and Pay-n-Sprays don't show up on the minimap either, which is really irritating in and of itself. The fragility of cars doesn't help either. Seriously, it only takes a couple crashes before the car's about to blow up.

Maybe I'm biased because I didn't play III until after I played nearly every one that came after it, and the fact I didn't play III at all until last year or so, but III really doesn't hold up all that well. I've tried to like it, but even Vice City holds up better than III.

GTA III is basically non-overhead GTA II with plot
and III suffered when it made the leap
only real improvement III has over II besides plot is that when you leave the first island, you can go back. it feels actually open. the game opened things up bit by bit instead of just pulling the rub from under you and having you learn a whole new area.
oh and not having to spend money to save is nice too.

edit: although i miss the flying glitch in II

Sonic unleashed wasn't so bad.
Disgaea never gets old.
Ghost and Goblins isn't hard.

It's beyond gay we didn't get a Micheal Jackson boss fight in Fractured But Whole.
Didn't you play the Casa Bonita DLC?

As for me, I've never cared about the Legend of Zelda franchise. I've never played even one of the games.

"Realistic"-looking games that rely heavily on motion capture still look unnatural af. Scratching my head a bit hearing so many people say they mistook scenes from the newest The Last of Us as real movie footage, when all the characters look like they've suffered from strokes.

More often than not, the first game in any franchise is not the best game in the series, the first game is important because it set the formula the series will follow thereafter, but said formula gets improved in each entry, i'm telling this, because some fandoms tend to put the first game in the series they follow on a pedestal and flat out ignore later entries, like they never existed or something

- I feel Persona 5 really had a weak final act on Christmas Eve and the ending felt rushed a bit and a retread of P4

- I could not get into Metroidvanias as they feel really overwhelming and boring to me at the same time.
