So right now in Seattle a man supposedly stole a plane from SeaTac International Airport, all flights in the area are grounded and air traffic control is in contact with him trying to teach him mid-flight how to land the plane. The most interesting part of this is the hijacker has been threatening to do a barrel roll.

A plume of smoke was reported near Ketron Island, Washington, after authorities received reports that a plane was stolen from Seattle Airport Friday night, according to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG).

Petty Officer Ali Flockerzi said one of the USCG's 45-foot rescue boats was headed to the scene.

The island is between Tacoma and Olympia, she said.

It wasn't clear what kind of plane was involved or whether or not passengers were on board.

Alaska Airlines tweeted, "We are aware of an incident involving an unauthorized take-off of a Horizon Air Q400. We believe there are no passengers on board. More information as we learn more."

The stolen plane reports were received about 8:30 p.m. PDT, and the plume was reported about 15 minutes later, Flockerzi said.

We are aware of an incident involving an unauthorized take-off of a Horizon Air Q400. We believe there are no passengers on board. More information as we learn more.

Edit: two fighter jets might have shot the plane down.

He did manage to secure his own plane and fly it for a while. so congrats to him. I hope he died happy.

A pre-owned plane of this model is listed at a cool $ 7,750,000, and that is just for the aircraft itself. Would have taken him ages to save up!

I knew someone who lived in stielacoom for awhile. They said a few of the island homes belonged to celebrities. This news story might blow up bigger once all the homes burn down.

The recording later picks up a snippet in which the man says he doesn't want to hurt anyone.
Man: "Damn it ... people's lives are at stake here."
Controller: "Now ... don't say stuff like that."
Man: "No, I told you. I don't want to hurt no one. I just want you to whisper sweet nothings in my ear."

Confirmed kiwi

I worked ground crew (aka ramp attendant, or rampy) for a international airport that had these Q400s from alaska/horizon. Who ever is speaking for the company is spouting some major B.S.

-they said ground crew isn't allowed in planes alone. Huge lie. Ground crew also clean the planes in most places. Q400s and Q200s are small, one person regularly cleans one by themselves. I would usually load one in the morning (alone) get the coffee going etc.

-they said ground crew are never allowed to touch the controls. As I said, I had to prep stuff in the morning (4:30 a.m) for the crew, alone. This included start up procedures in the cockpit so we could get the "ground power unit" going.

This guy is a rampy hero

The guy was probably gonna start bane posting had he not crashed

I'm surprised nobody posted the recording yet, it's pretty great yet also hits you right in the feels, as he talks about how he only makes minimum wage, how he expected life in prison for a guy like him, and how he felt disadvantaged in the job market being a white male:

The comments are some deep feels, a lot of people could feel for the guy, working a low wage job and just wanting to go out with a bang by having some fun first:
