I've actually been talking with Naomi recently, she's surprisingly chill and is really pissed at her friends. I hope everything works out for her. One of the best trannies I've ever met.

Really? Because going by everything that's been posted here about her (which, admittedly, is probably some form of confirmation bias) she looks like your run of the mill "trans" with a terminal case of "not having their shit together" and fucked up personal priorities just like everyone else in her neck of the woods.

Like what @CIA Nigger's post shows, blowing money on fursuit stuff instead of things for education and openly whining about not being able to afford it. Clearly if you're required to buy a book on engineering applications in the field of fucking aviation you're going to shell out a premium for education in this highly specific (and potentially very well paying) career field.

edit: She's not even telling the fucking truth. "Aerodynamics Aeronautics and Flight Mechanics, 2nd ed." on Amazon.com will run you $28.99 shipped. A far cry from the "$216" in her Mastodon post. Either she's a very brainless shopper, Amazon just recently discovered a pallet of these somewhere, or she's simply making it up for poor college student pity points.

I never said being one of the best trannies was an accomplishment, she is trans after all.

How is that a deer anyway? It's just a generic wolf muzzle.

Canine-ish fursuits are like the Eevee of the fursuit market. They evolve into everything because that's usually the only type of suit anyone ever learned to make so when someone orders "a deer" you just get a canine base that's dressed up with antlers or something.

Reminds me of that one "how to draw" furry comic where every animal is just a modified wolf.

that's likely a lot of printer ink to use up

edit: she wound up getting the book for around $30

I'm having trouble with archiving and screenshotting this, so can someone else do that for me?
I also forgot that you can easily load up a kindle with the pdf's, but since I don't know college rules, I'm not sure how professors feel around kindle's...

Oh, you mean this one? It's quite true in the furry community really- most people just use canine snouts for everything because dogs are fucking everywhere.
And laziness.

You can also buy them secondhand on half.com for pennies on the dollar and often in excellent condition.
you think that with furries being heavily internet-oriented some of this information would be circulating everywhere in the fandom...
I never knew that Half.com redirected to eBay...

A lot of furries have what we call the "canine face" syndrome, to where they don't study art enough to make a difference of character muzzles other than them looking more dog like, hell they even give the same faces to cats, marsupials, and every thing else under the sun.

And frequently when told to try and draw an animal like how it looks, they reply with “let people draw what they want” or “but people put tits on snakes/dragons/sharks/etc.”

I remember last Christmas season, there was a thing going around where you would draw your fursona as a caribou, and some people were like “hey btw caribou don’t have dog noses or deer tails” and oh my god were there some people pissed off by that. I’m talking big threads where people basically said “let people draw dog deer if they want.”

Like fine, do whatever, but don’t pretend you actually know how to draw anything other than dogs lol.

Furry species butchering, especially in suit making, is so pervasive. It's why I always hear people asking "what makers are good at doing cats?" Because most people want a feline muzzle. Not a dog. Related, there's a maker I like despite them having a very same face style in their suits...and they have a recent example of this muzzle problem.

part of the art problem with furries is that a lot of them try to learn art from each others drawings without ever referencing photos of the actual animals they are drawing

They can't extrapolate from those to anthro versions of those animals, though, because they aren't really artists. They're just imitators who managed to imitate one very specific style.

it's good to learn from great artists, but you can't learn exclusively that way
I mean yeah, but that would require you to study anatomy and try to develop your own style of drawing. Why do that when you can follow the all of the other solid, proven, and profitable styles of drawing like every other artist does
