The thread where you post your mildly unpopular opinions

I mean as I said before I mostly hate SW as a merchandising machine and haven't given a shit about the movies since the prequels but yeah
I never had a problem with the oversaturation because it was inoffensive and the designs weren't shit. Then the sequels came and a lot of the designs turned shit.

Again, on the Star Wars note. I used to hate Darth Vader's design because of that stupid fucking chain around his neck. Mostly because the little action figure I had of him made it weirdly prominent. I now like it though the chain seriously ruins it for me.

New mildly unpopular opinion: had an easier time getting into Final Fantasy 8 than 9 or 10

the saturation it and other pop culture had in the 90s seems so quaint now.

The original God of War games have genuinely good stories, and it pisses me off that people are saying that the new one introduced good storytelling to the series.

Go back and play the first game. Kratos was actually a pretty intriguing character and not nearly as one-dimensional as people make him out to be. He wasn't just a rage-fueled monster, he was a regretful, tortured individual who suffered from guilt and self-loathing more than anything. Hell, III has a great story too; I loved the theme of family that was omnipresent throughout the game, since it emphasized what Kratos has lost and will continue to lose. And that ending was amazing. There was a depth to the game's plots, and I feel that people forget about it underneath the spectacle and the gore.

I love how Kratos just flat-out tries to kill himself at the end of 1. It seems so antithetical to the common perception of him but it's actually perfect for that game's story.

People tend to forget that Kratos is modeled after the classic Greek perception of what a hero was, somebody with extraordinary abilities who did badass things. The ancient Greeks had a 'might makes right' mentality and reading classic stories, you'll notice the protagonists are pretty dickish and yet they were still fawned over by the people. Kratos was meant as a modern day deconstruction of those old stories, in that he's so much of a classic greek hero that it's pretty much caused him to ruin his own life and nearly destroy the whole world. He does all of the shit that makes classic figures like Heracles and Perseus legendary, but with realistic consequences. Honestly the old God of War games are so fucking rad to me because it's not like typical games from that era where the protagonist is some generic good guy, Kratos was a fucking psychopath that would kill anyone that stood in his way without thinking twice but because he was so bloodthirsty his main conflict was him struggling to keep his sanity and find a way to redeem himself in the first game, but in two and three he gets fucked over and falls back into his angry violent old personality. It was pretty fascinating to watch a character that was so unscrupulous and violent go through his story like that and the writers handled the whole deal really well.

Plus the old games had silly alternate costumes to unlock which in my opinion is something they have over the new one. Spud of War was the best thing in any video game ever.

The internet and computers in general ruined nerds. Before nerds would obsess over math, ants, bird watching, or whatever. They produced something useful to themselves and society. Now they consume vidya and porn until they sterilize themselves with hormones, cut off their dicks, and kill themselves.

If you want a vision of the future, imagine every generations Newton or Gauss jacking it to sissy hypno hentai - forever.

Mortal Kombat has been a huge part of my childhood and there's no doubt it's been a wildly successful franchise for the most part, but I still think Killer Instinct blows it out of the water, especially as far as gameplay, music and the general vibe of it goes. I wish Microsoft would've given as much support to Double Helix\Iron Galaxy as Warner Bros has to Netherrealm Studios, instead of gimping the game by making it an Xbone exclusive for so long and barely giving it any press or budget.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is a really good fighting game once you look past the shitty, soulless presentation and the uninspired character roster. It really could've used an extra year in development.

Oh, and I prefer vegetables over fruits.
