Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

I dunno, regardless of his legalise being correct, it's still kinda sad for someone in a supposedly prestigious profession to be getting into internet slap fights with a comic book guy over petty internet drama in the first place.

Seems like the real "winning" move would've been to not get involved at all.
He lives in Central Minnesota. I'll give him this as a past time; if you've been there you'd probably understand.

I've actually seen lawyers - usually city lawyers like LA or MPLS - get into spats with people who just read up on the law as a hobby and they get wrecked. I don't know what it is about Twitter but it brings out the worst in people, regardless of profession. So I'll give him bonus points for not losing.

I'm with you on that, they are starting to mobilize a bit more. I kinda wonder if Vox Day's little stunt wasn't coming from the other side too and they are salty that nobody actually went along with him.

No fucking way. Vox is a psycho but there is just absolutely no fucking way he'd be colluding with SJWs. That's just a total non-starter.

He got started in the literary Sci-Fi field, specifically with the Sad Puppies drama. You should look it up.

He'd actually been at it for years before even that.

At one point, he was even seemingly normal and worked with actual names in the industry like Jerry Pournelle and Eric S. Raymond. He was a somewhat marginal figure, but not an absolute pariah.

"I'd love to tell you why i'm right and you're wrong, but first your sub count has to be high enough for me, and you also have to pony up some cash!" Jesus, what a self-important cow.

"Hey Nick - you're totally wrong, wrong, wrong. Oh, you want me to explain why? Uh..um...IT'S NOT MY JOB TO EDUCATE YOU!"

I guess Eddy overslept on the day they talked about "burden of proof" in clown college law school.

Rekieta generally does the opposite, though. The main reason lawyers get owned on the law online is just assuming their J.D. magically means shit they pull out of their ass is right. If you haven't read the case law on a specific issue and followed the ongoing case you're talking about, and someone else has, they automatically have the advantage if they're even a reasonably intelligent layperson.

There are legal secretaries and paralegals who know more about the law that goes on in some law offices than the lawyer who actually goes to court. That doesn't mean those guys are idiots. Sometimes the rainmaker in a firm isn't a law nerd at all, in fact quite often that's the case. The rainmaker is good at getting someone with a good case to sign with the firm.

Rekieta is obviously a law nerd. He likes the nuts and bolts. He's going to own anyone on those who doesn't do their homework. Also, pretty much anyone, even a random Kiwi Farmer, can own some absolute dipshit who says you should talk to the cops before a lawyer.

Fuck Twitter vermin who use "blockchain" to talk about anything not cryptocurrency.

Nicky Rackets has met a few worthy legal adversaries in comics since CG began getting traction, but nothing could prepare him for Edward Sellner:

Jesus Christ. Reminds me of the first YouTube video I ever stumbled across to make me think there might be more to the platform than cat videos and MineCraft.

Yep. I've heard from both lawyers AND COPS to have your lawyer on hand when talking with police.

Here's the full 46 min version of the video that Elwood P Dowd posted above.

Hey Heather, don't want to be accused of sleeping your way into an industry,? Don't sleep your way into an industry.

I'm sure that sports betting website is loving this, Heather.

Remember, it's Esports. We wouldn't want anyone to think that a legitimate business would hire this cunt.

Additionally, these entitled creators should step up their game and produce comics audiences will read if they don't want criticism. These fuckwits don't realize that they are the Dodo and that their insular little bubble is going to hasten their extinction.

I heard from one source that she was either fired or let go from that job. I’m not sure how accurate that is tbh.

They don’t realize because they’re under the illusion that they’re writing the Watchmen of this and every generation. Any comment that isn’t agreement or asspats is harassment, the concept of personal responsability is non existent. Ironically enough most of these speds from a publisher who’s main flagship’s philosophy is “With Great Power, There Must Also Come Great Responsability”

They don't just think that, they think they literally are the Watchmen safeguarding humanity against the Nazis.

In actuality, they're like some villain with a dumb origin story like the version of Lex Luthor who was so bitter and angry at the world because Supes blew his hair off while saving him from his own chemical experiment, rendering him bald.

I like the ignoring that at least half the Watchmen crew were pretty much fascists too.

Wow! Forgive me as I’m playing catch-up on this, but WTF? Has Quesada lost his fucking mind? Ladies and gentleman what we have here is proof of a lousy and unprofessional business culture that goes all the way to the top. Joe is a C suite Executive. You don’t do this. You don’t ever do this. Never ever ever. You especially don’t do this when the target has already filed an FTC complaint regarding the behaviors of your massive corporation and the children employed their in against his business. It boggles the mind. After Waid’s nonsense regarding Antarctic Press and D&C, Marvel would have been forced to insist on a policy that everyone was just to stay away from D&C, Antarctic Press and other small publishers and creators. Waid is an unhinged lunatic acting on his own, leave it at that. Corporate Policy should have been, needed to be “don’t step in the poop”. “Stay the fuck out of it, or else!” I’m sure that’s the advise the company legal department was giving. And Quesada goes and does this. He just essentially validated Waid’s actions as corporate policy. He’s a C suite exec. He has no Private Opinion or Speech. And he’s punching down telling people (and retailers) not to purchase or fund a small indie creators work. One who was already bullied out of a publisher by Quesada’s employees. Wow!

And the problem is not so much what Quesada said. Which granted is problematic enough. It’s that he said it at all. That he engaged and got involved. You don’t do that. As an executive you are specifically told, don’t do that. Don’t do things like this. Make no careless public statements. Everything you say can have an impact on the company. What a fucking idiot!

I'd like to see a Rackets stream on this. Unlawful restraint of trade, tortious interference, and other highly profitable torts (including possibly even RICO) start to seem like much less of a long shot at this point. I always thought there was something there, but this is really stepping in it.

The weird part was once his towering rage/hissy fit wore off he started posting pictures of his new puppy. Its like Marvel is only gonna hire you if you've got some serious chemical imbalance going on.

Remember, this is Joe 'One More Day' Quesada. The guy who shitcanned decades of continuity because he wasn't happy that Peter Parker was happily married.

What will be interesting is if the House of Mouse notices.

I’ve been talking to a couple of CG spergs lately, they believe the massive increase in sperg outs from pros are the result of the following:
  1. Most of the publisher’s 3rd quarter finance reports are about to be released and this is them panicking.
  2. Most of the CG backed IGGs are about to be finalized and shipped to their backers, making the numerous claims that the IGGs are cons/scams invalid.
  3. The upcoming releases of the IGGs is starting to become humiliating for certain Pros with years late projects.
  4. Certain Pros are quickly becoming irrelevant and are in desperate need for attention before they fade into obscurity.
My personal opinion, it might be a combination of all of the above.

EDIT: fixed typo

This is something I hope comes up if that case is still happening. Could see D&C forgetting but it is something to note.
