Favorite 9/11 moments

The one amusing memory I have of that day was reading a news reaction thread, probably at Ain't It Cool, where everyone was saying, essentially, "Hey, wasn't this a Lone Gunmen episode?"

I had seen that Lone Gunmen episode when it premiered about half a year before but I didn't remember that they barely averted a remotely-hijacked airliner from crashing into one of the Twin Towers until I saw that thread.

Another bad thing happened on September 11th, 2001. American-born Canadian children's entertainer Ernie Coombs, who was better known as Mr. Dressup, had a stroke just a few hours before the planes hit the towers. He never regained consciousness and died a week later.

I remember playing Red Alert 2 when it happened. Blew up the WTC in the game then get a cutscene on TV.
As a kid I was wondering how the hell the planes didn't got shot down. Okay Americans have SAMphobia and those wouldn't work on such low flying planes over the city, but what was the airforce doing. Now I know that there was some exercise and bureaucracy involved, but it still feels fishy.

Too bad it happened, it ended the 90s optimism and pretty much gave the yanks wars that are longer than Vietnam at this point.
It didn't even hurt the US culturally and morally in the long run. Osama (if he really did it) is a historical super troll.

Well there was this girl I really liked in colleague and the night before she'd slept with me. I fealt pretty good that day and the icing on the cake was my mates giving me a pat on the back and her confirming we we're going out.
Bullshit aside It was a pretty ordinary day until about 8pm, then my favourate bit is where I figured out how exactly this was going to pan out and have yet to be proven wrong on any aspect of it.

The Day Today's 9/11 edition; the reporter at the scene (or in this case, not at the scene) was Peter O'Hanraha-Hanrahan, the most incompetent journalist known to mankind:

Now that I think of it, today is Tuesday. Guess what other day took place on a Tuesday...

was it the day the dinosaurs became extinct?

I think this may be it. The day KF became the Islamic State of Nullrabia.

Are we going to get Kiwi burqas? Or shall I just paint a green splodge on my usual cover-up-bucket and call it a day?

Flight 93 crashed near my parents' house. Their town was crawling with feds for weeks. That was cool, just seeing MIB looking guys at the gas station.

I was in college and my English professor was pregnant and mentally unstable after 9/11. When she couldn't stop crying into late October the university canceled her class and let us take a Pass/Fail or retake the class. Also cool.

Fox News was on 24/7 live broadcast for like a week and a half. In the middle of the night, for the first few days, it was like 70% interviewing bums at 3AM in NYC. Everyone was superpissed off and really uptight, and for some reason because these arabs slammed planes into buildings we couldn't say nigger on the radio anymore and the internet started going into lockdown. It sucks that thousands of people died that day in one catastrophic event, but the solution was to punish people with shit like the PATRIOT Act. Maybe it prevented an even worse attack, but I'm still gonna whine because I miss the days when you could hear someone other than an edgy kid shouting "nigger".
