You do realize that there's plenty of pictures online of people who have everything from an SAW to fucking MANPADS right? The only reason nobody gave a shit is because there are plenty of ways to get/keep various weapons without Uncle Sam getting wind of it.

JFK wasn't that long ago, m8.
I'm sure there's people here and there with all kinds of crazy stuff. You have that in European countries too, regardless of weapon laws.

The final bulwark against a overreaching government isn't a handful of gun enthusiasts. It's a population armed with reasonably effective rifles. The kind that the 90's assault weapon ban attempted to restrict.

Not sure what JFK has to do with anything?

The key word there is attempted, but failing that we're not talking about a handful of gun enthusiasts.

His assassination, both in that it happened and that it only took one man to do it. I don't necessarily agree with or condone the practice, but I'm not going to be naive enough to suggest that it's off of the table entirely if the kind of censorious shenanigans going on in the E.U. were to make their way across the pond, especially considering today's political climate and the abundance of people who see themselves as "just needing a reason".

Edit: I just realized the real reason we don't have to worry about something like Article 13 though, fucking with the ability to make memes would piss off the entirety of Black Twitter. I don't think anyone wants that.

Attempted and succeded. They just didn't succeed in renewing the restrictions. If people didn't riot when the original law was passed, could they have been roused if it had been renewed again, and again, and again. Until people get used to the status quo and the law gets permanent.

Yes, gun ownership is widespread in the US. My remark about gun enthusiasts was referring to people owning exotic stuff like LAW's and anti-air missiles you talked about. The vast majority of gun owners will own things that's legal. And illegal ownership is mostly handguns bought off the street, mostly useless for any kind of serious resistance against a government.

Assassinating individual politicians is useless if the legislation still gets passed.

Major efforts for the kind of censorious shenanigans going on in the EU is already going on in the US. It's just been held at bay thanks to a supreme court that's willing to uphold the 1st amendment. You probably dodged a bullet with the Trump election. It just takes a few justices to swing; suddenly "hate-speech" isn't protected speech any more and the crack in the dam has formed...

For now.

There are ways of gradually stripping away rights so as to not ignite armed uprisings. What did those crazy bastards do when machineguns got restricted in the 60's or when the "assault weapon ban"* went into effect in the 90's?

*Yes, it was a temporary prohibition that lapsed after 10 years, but the intent from the lawmakers was obviously that it would be eternally renewed.

That's how rights get eroded. A little bit at the time.

Full-Auto firearms were restricted in the National Firearms Act of 1934. The production/conversion of full-auto firearms was banned in the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986. However, you are not wrong in general. Firearms regulations is a great example of a right being eroded over 2 centuries.

I don't want to drag this out longer than it needs to be since we're pretty far off topic already, but to be fair any statistic regarding illegal purchase of guns would be useless in determining the proliferation of outlawed armaments given that the statistics would be coming from those who got caught doing it. That aside in many cases what makes the difference between a legal and illegal rifle is a mere 15-30 minutes of work with tools you can get at a hardware store.

They're only "individual politicians" until you get enough of them in the ground.

We definitely did dodge a bullet and the SCOTUS is one of the reasons I don't think we'll ever have to resort to armed revolt to get D.C. to step the fuck off of our rights, but the irreconcilable difference between our points of view is simply that Americans and Europeans/Canadians have a different culture when it comes to the topic. I mean for fuck's sake when I brought up JFK you didn't know what I meant, whereas I could've made the same remark to any guy on the street (with given context) in the U.S. and they'd know immediately.

Ultimately we won't know until it actually comes down to it so discussing whether or not it'll happen is moot, and discussing it at length in a thread about a guy that makes videos about freaks on the internet on a forum that is the digital equivalent of the freakshow at a carnival isn't really going to amount to much.

Is Jim really that naive to think that this won't affect Americans at one point?

Even if Americans have the 1st amendment, they can also just enforce this law under the disguise of "copyright protection."
Jim has said multiple times on the Killstream over the past few weeks that he expects the internet to get locked down, and that the "business" as he conducts it now will become impossible. He's pretty blackpilled about it to be honest.
He's also said on multiple times that the reason he keeps making fun of Europeans is because they always get crazy mad and sperg out hard on him on twitter. It's the same reason he kept needling the libarailists: because speds can't hold their salt and it's funny.

I don't know whether it will actually happen, but they'll certainly try, and they'll win in some places and some times, as they just did in the EU. It's ultimately impossible to put the genie back in the bottle, but you can definitely find and fuck with some people and oppress some populations, even if not all of them.

Things are going to get worse before they get better, if they ever do get better.

Because the thing that people who are fans of him don't like to acknowledge is that he's as much of a lolcow as the people he makes videos about

Jim's a furfag tranny tumblrite SJW who posts Sonic porn on Deviant Art and shot up a school?

(and Hbomb probably has dirt on him because they were in the same exceptional individual club)

You honestly believe that someone as uninvolved as HBomberGuy would have dirt on someone as cautious as Jim? What would even count as "dirt" that could even be proven, since the owner of Metokur purged the shit out of it off the internet and prevented it from being archived? Jim has also sprinkled fake dox of himself throughout his time using the internet, so if HBomberGuy dropped dox, chances are high that the dox is completely fake. This is also assuming that HBomberGuy is as retarded as Kraut and Tea to go to e-war with Jim.

Got to be less than mild being able to scour the mad filth he covers. Going to shoot for Elizabeth Warren inflation porn.
For some reason I'm betting either futanari or netorare.

You guys do realize that he's just leading up to a "I like vaginas" anti-climax as his reveal, right?

If Hbomberguy had dirt/wanted to fight Jim, he would have done it a long time ago especially during GG.

From what Jim has said, Hbomberguy wasn't that involved and was more just butt-buddies with haberman.

I think Hbomberguy is just content with ignoring Jim and anything metokur related.

Jims quite hard to read, it's genuinly hard to tell if he's stupid enough to believe America is any less of a shitshow in regards to internet leglislation or if he's just pushing people's buttons.
I don't think Jim actually has many links with Hbomberguy, it seems more that they've been spawned from the same early 00's something awful culture. Harris tends to try and ignore his earlier antics because he's shrewd enough to know his fanbase wouldnt like them. I'm not even sure they've ever even directly spoken.

No, the United State's internet is legitimately better throttling or no throttling seeing as how we're not charged real life money for posting links.

We're definitely better. At the moment, and in general, whatever is on paper. Google results aren't just disappeared into the ether here based on the say-so of any Internet dipshit. People are not criminally prosecuted for /pol/-tier social media posts. Nobody has been threatened with jail time for making a funny dog video. ISPs need not fear defamation suits from wackos who think they should be held responsible for things their users say, while the EU just passed a law explicitly making them liable.

The DMCA sucks and is used to shut down a lot of content, but it similarly insulates ISPs from liability for copyright infringement by customers so long as they follow a simple and easy protocol. Frivolous lawsuits against ISPs of the Scientology sort were more or less stopped in their tracks by this.

By comparison, the EU has just passed legislation bringing all that shit back for Europeans.

We're simply a lot better, both on paper and in actual reality. That isn't some permanent guarantee, but it's certainly true now.

I genrally agree but I'm pretty sure all this god awful stuff is on the way, their's two entire parties with views on the net completly out of touch with reality and a legion of lobbyist scum at working for corporate scum in the US and that's before you consider Silacon Valley. The EU is the thin end of the wedge in the long run we're all going to be eating a big shit sandwhich by 2028. Probably with loads of creepy invasive stuff which don't protect anyone from anything.

Jim seems to suspect it himself so I'm not convinced his smugness about the EU is genuine especially considering the recent twitter shit show.
My only real consolation is that this it looks unworkable.
