Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

I wonder why Chris doesn't screencap the forum any more? I know he did it for the trial, and it didn't get him the result he wanted... But that's never stopped Chris from doing something before.

Maybe he was doing it specifically to give copies to Bell, and now Chris has given up on Bell because he's a "wuss."

I saw this on Jeopardy the other night and I couldn't stop laughing. The rest of the people in the room stared.

Chris makes a big deal of his eyes being different colors, but I absolutely can't see it (looking at Tomgirl Equality photo above). They both look blue/green hazel. Is it just that he is bad at taking photos, or does he just obsess about a slight difference in the blue/green balance between them?

I can notice a difference when I look at them. His "green" eye is really more of a hazel-blueish color, but he does have heterochromia.

Most people's eyes are basically identical. Chris' are less so. It's a neat little thing about him.

But Chris doesn't have neat little things about him. He has superspecial unique powers with elaborate mythological origins.

At this point, I am amazed he didn't come up with something far out like his godbear-promised future wife would have the same heterochromia (albeit with sides switched) or his blue eye being able to spot lies and the green one allowing him to reveal anchuent prophecies or whatever.

You know, for something that seems to be so important to him, he didn't really utilize it for his comic... or did I miss something?

I was reading the 'talking bear gives a boy name' article and I saw this, and it struck me:
"The Greene County School system was not equipped to teach an autistic child," Mr. Chandler said. "The Chesterfield County school system has accepted him with open arms."
This is a VERY worrying statement to be printed in a newspaper. Consider it: some readers might have taken that as a statement of fact and then changed their opinions accordingly. It might have even lead to one or two autistic kids being taken out of the GCS. That's a truly terrifying thought, to think that Chris might have a ripple-effect on the upbringing of other autistic people.

Is it true that Rocky tried to set Chris up with a special girl but she wanted nothing to do with him? I think I heard that on /cwc/.

Nah. People who take this statement seriously and want their own autistic children to be taken care off won't do the same mistakes as Chris' parents.
They'll think Greene County is not that good at taking care, but they will figure Chesterfield seems to be good. Still, they will seek the appropriate help in Chesterfield. It's not like Bobo told people to just run away from their respective school systems until they find one where they can just mainstream their children since that's such a great idea.

Maybe Chestefield was much more equipped to handle Chris than Greene was. Bob was not an idiot and I am sure he did his research. He sacrificed a lot of time and money to put Chris into Chesterfield, so there must have been good reasons. If some parent of an autistic child read it and decided to look into other school districts it might well have benefitted their children.

Mainstreaming is a very legitimate philosophy. I have a couple friends who work with autistic children professionally. They are adamant that mainstreaming and providing extra support (maybe along the lines of Chris coping skills class) is by far the best way of dealing with most autistic children.

Wherever you stand on it, I don't think it is possible to claim that mainstreaming has no merits. Noone knows where Chris would have been without it. Maybe he would have been better off, maybe worse off.
