Furry Fandom and Drama General

So the fandom has always been up its own ass. It's pretty funny. You couldn't just draw furry art, you had to actually be a furry. Typically combined with weird New Age stuff about spirit animals and shamanism.
It's funny because so many furries will consume content with anthromorphic animals made by non furries like popcorn to the point where any artist can get popular with rule 34 drawings.

Funny enough I've seen a lot of regular hentai artists that take full advantage of what you just said. Hell I've even seen people like >Shadman drawing shit for furries, not because he likes them, but because he knows they get off to that depraved shit and he knows damn well he can make a buck from some extra idiots willing to throw him a bone.

I mean, we've all seen his Tails drawings. I wish I hadn't.

Degenerates can and will pollute literally any fan-base/hobby (I've personally seen some really fucked-up shit at an AnimeExpo panel). My main issue with the furry fandom -being so 'accepting' and 'welcoming'- is that it attracts an ass-load of disgusting fuckers. I know how disturbing the fandom is, trust me.

I don't want to associate with the fandom in so far as meet moderately normal individuals who like the same thing, all whilst wading through a cesspool of diaper furs and vore freaks.
Defending what I like would be moot, I totally understand. You don't have to like furries, I hate a majority of them too.

I just want to ask:
Why do fans of anything flock together?

Hell, even some of the more successful works made by furries that got noticed outside the fandom (like Dust AET) have at times suffered from the stigma associated with the fandom, and it's due to the fact that the furry fandom has gone out of it's way to create the worst image for itself while none of it's members understand why at all.

B-b-b-b-ut muh fursecution.

Their martyr complex is also even less sympathetic than their degeneracy, especially when most of the "fursecution" was a reaction to them having to push their perverted shit into every single fucking forum they went to whether it was on-topic or not.

Why do fans of anything flock together?
People tend to flock together based on interests nowadays and depending on what they are the types of people that are interested in them will be of varying quality. Normal, more "mainstream" interests attract higher quality people than a fringe community based around the loose idea of "anthromorphic animals" that happens to be highly sexualized.

Why do fans of anything flock together?

Human nature. Everyone wants to stand out but one one wants to be alone. The things they like makes them feel unique but because most people have a drive to interact with others. They tend to search for other that share the same interest because it is easier then assimilating into another group and they don't have to lose their unique identity.

Something "unique " about furriers is that the community is very split mostly stemming from a lack of gate-keeping. Alot of people believe gate-keeping is a bad thing in communities but it helps weed out shit-heads and other you wouldn't want to associate with. This is how you get Diaper-fags/scat-lovers/horny weirdos/Christ-fags/Commies/Ancaps ect. all under the same roof because no one holds anyone to any standards.

If you want a look at this Check out r/furry_irl about every month a fringe fetish group shits up the reddit with constant posting of said fetish. Its a lack of internal filter that causes this to happen and pushes """Normal""" furfags out and leaves only the nut jobs in because when some one tries to stop them they get shouted down. Sorry for the :autism: rant.

I just realized that r/furry_irl is basically the same shit as r/yiff, lol.

That's what they all say. They probably shouldn't. It just encourages people.
It's always the newfags. They end up popping into AC thinking "Oh we're all furfags it's ok we can all talk shit and go into the little room and yiff all fucking day" but then they realize too late that we're all justifiably paranoid assholes.

We have a "Do not powerlevel" rule for a reason.

Says the guy who got doxed.
When it comes out of the guy who got doxed, you sit the fuck down and listen. By the way, you should probably thank @Golden Compass for the trouble I put his happy ass through to even find that one link, instead of derailing every fucking thread acting like a bunch of stupid furries.

And you're too stupid to realize my name's been changed several times during that thread's lifetime by mods. They eventually settled for the one I have now.

We're social animals (pun not intended), obviously.

Since I’m the “just come out and say it” kind of person I’m going to just come out and say it: you’re here to troll.

I’ve seen this kind of approach before. You start with “I like talking animals but ew, furries are gross!” And the. Over your next posts you work your way through trying to show everyone how furries are actually just like every other fandom.

Your “tells” are the comment about the ICP being entrataining, the out of the blue disingenuous, apropos of nothin “gosh, why are their fandoms, guys?” And probably a few I missed. It ends with you eventually posting how all fandoms are fucked up so go easy on the furfags and gosh, why worry, be furry!

Furries have been doing this since Portal of Evil and Something Awful. Nothing new. Do yourself a favor and don’t play poker, you’d be terrible at it.

(His next post would be “actually I’m AWEsome at poker!”, if I hadn’t said this here.)

No no, wait! His next post will be “lol calm down my dude.” Fits his predictability.
