The Patton Oswalt Kickstarter was $10k away yesterday and not moving much. It makes little sense how it exploded overnight. I wonder if he kicked in most of it to get it close.
Anyway, sad that EVS and D&C can make hundreds of thousands in a short period of time but the “go woke” crowd barely scrapes by. Gee, maybe society doesn’t really support them en mass like they think??

No idea, but a lot of award winning people seem to be involved which makes me wary considering how often I've been let down by such people recently.
I do like the idea of AMPED, though. One of the rewards you can get has a bunch of digital first issues. Basically it's handicapable on steroids.

In a lot of ways, Social Justice Warriors of this type are cut from the same cloth as the religious nutters everyone laughed at in the 80s and 90s. Just as prone to censoring what they don't like, just as authoritarian, just as much of a minority (the AFA (see below) was, tops, a few hundred active members; Social Justice Warriors account for about 5% of most Social Media users, tops), and just as big a pain in everyone else's ass. They even use the same lingo ("think of the children/women"), same tactics (The American Family Association, a religious right group, was responsible for fully 98% of all complaints directed to the FCC over immoral content in the 80s and 90s; less said of SJW fake-boycott poutrages, the better), and the only difference is the direction of the ideology (left vs right) and the fact that while the religious right focused on dogma, Social Justice focuses on emotion.
For all intents and purposes, Social Justice and its attached ideologies are a religion. While they have no real doctrine of faith to speak of, they are just as devoid of actual arguments beyond "I do not like this thing." Indeed, they have even less of an argument since at least the religious nutter has the benefit of belief in a deity that outlines their personal moral behavior.
And believe me, they know this, Kiwis.
That is why so many of them disable ratings, comments, and replies. Many of them try to frame that they're so goddamned successful and enlightened but in truth it's little more than self-deception. There's an unspoken truism that drives every one of these ideologues fucking insane, and it's the foreknowledge that no matter what they do, what they attempt, or what they accomplish, their cause, in every sense of the word, is doomed. There simply is no way to prevent people from being assholes towards each other, and reality itself will never care about feelings, let alone who it spares and who it destroys. More critically: Most of them acknowledge that they lost the battle for public opinion ages ago, though they'll never word it that way (they instead will claim Nazis/Right-Wingers/etc dominate platforms). Their ideology is about as popular as an impacted bowel, and no amount of fronting or autistically screeching on Social Media will change this.
Which brings me to something very heartening to bear in mind: See, @KidKitty was nice enough to once explain this, but you can't force someone to adopt your ideology, and indoctrination invariably, every single fucking time, fails, because reality does not give a fuck about your narratives. Back in the 80s and 90s, there was a big movement by religious people to pull kids out of public schools and give 'em good proper bible-thumping education in private or religious academies. With hilarious regularity, these failed. The kids ultimately turned their back on their religious upbringing entirely, and left it behind. KidKitty's favorite example was Pastor Fred's own family, who despite being brought up in the Westboro Baptist Church, fled it and turned on their own family members. Similar is happening, only in way larger numbers - with Social Justice (and with gender identity politics too, but that's fodder for another thread.
In the end, they don't have the numbers to make it happen. Their side will allow themselves to be fleeced, but they don't bring to the table the kind of cash the nerds do.

They can't.
There's probably a whole lot of really complicated psych terms for this, but I usually refer to it as 'intellectual inertia'. In short, if they admit error, they have to own up to every block, every snotty remark, every false accusation of bigotry and sexism. There's no way around it, short of full-on cognitive dissonance (which still makes them look like tools).
