The big issue is prosecuting an adult for something done as a juvenile. Assuming he actually did anything, and what he did rose to the level of rape, and it had been reported, and he'd been charged, he would have been tried as a juvenile & his juvie record sealed at 21*. Its possible they might have tried him as an adult, but extremely unlikely for a first time offender unless the DA was looking to make a statement.
:autism: Unless there was incontrovertible evidence of forcible rape, how it would go is they'd take a guilty plea in exchange for being sentenced as juvenile for some low level sexual assault charge. He'd be given probation, maybe a suspended sentence, and to apologize the victim. :autism:
Now, obviously in any normal situation the police would take the report, do some minimal investigation so they write the forgone conclusion: "Its been 35 years, there is no physical evidence. There is no reliable witness testimony. Both parties were under 18 and over 15. This is completely unprosecutable." But this a high profile situation, and media pressure makes stupid shit happen.
* I think. I believe it varies state to state. Ours was it sealed at 18 unless you doing max in juvie where sealed at 21 unless they'd convicted you as an adult but sent you to juvie for sentencing.

My father tried to do this recently. He didnt like that my grandmother was watching fox news and tried to delete the app off of her ipad, and replace it with MSNBC and CNN. I honestly couldnt believe he went and did that.
The changes were promptly reversed by me, and locked down so he cant change them again, but I still cant quite believe liberals are getting this wound up to the point they are willing to fuck with people's media consumption in their own homes just to styfle conservative views.
