More work speculation:

During Dave's depression ask the king episode he mentioned that Kat's daily hours vary depending on her workload. Sometime she comes home early, sometimes she works late. I would conclude she is not working at Wal-Mart since I don't think they let you leave early and don't like people working overtime.

Rule number 1 when dealing with things Phil says, never take what he says at face value. An example would be how he refers to credit card loans as, “business loans.” When he said that she was, “transferring,” her work to Washington, this could literally mean anything from she was actually transferred to another branch/division to transferring her resume/filling applications. You just can’t take anything Phil says at his word because he very much likes to twist and skew the truth, and most times will outright lie to support his narrative. He will often make things seem more important than they really are by bolstering his vocabulary (he loves to use the term erroneous even when it doesn’t apply to what he’s talking about).

Him saying Kat had to have her job transferred could literally mean she worked an office position that has multiple branches across the country to working at another location for Chik-Fil-A. Phil is like an aphasiac in that he will grasp at words that sound the same, words that have similar definitions, or mean entirely the opposite. You just never know with Phil.

If Kat worked at Chik-fil-a her day off would be Sunday.

i feel like if kat worked at chik-fil-a, dave would ask her to bring some chicken sandwiches home all the time, because he will assume that she gets it for free, and he is a cheapskate who disregards his health. for that matter, he would probably get her to bring home food from her job if she worked anywhere related to food service.

Tbh, that wouldn't be a bad idea in terms of finances. Don't fast food employees usually get some kind of decent discount? It's not like Phil cooks anyway...

Someone who isn’t me used to work at a McDonald’s for like a month because it was shit. I think it’s like a 50% discount for stuff, but they used to take shit that was sitting in the warmer for too long instead of throwing it in the trash.

Arent they closed on Sundays too? Doesnt Khet work on Sundays sometimes?

That is a good point. If Kat was working some sort of food service job she would be bringing home food.

I also don't think she works at Fred Meyer or Wal-Mart because a week or two ago they had to go to Taco Bell for dinner because they "miscalculated" the amount of food they bought for the week. If Kat worked at a grocery store she could have easily just picked up more food after her shift since she was already there.

Was Kat still living in Gaylord, Michigan before the move or somewhere else? Does anyone know where Subaru man lived?

Edit: possibly Boyne City

Edit2: I guess he is in Grand Rapids. This does not help.

Kat works retail at whatever clothing store is nearby. It explains the fluctuating hours (also useful as a convenient excuse for when she comes home late), seemingly random days off and the new shirts she occasionally gets him. I highly doubt she's the type of girl that will get gifts for her bf unless it's out of convenience and more importantly not expensive, and as far as we know the only thing she gets him are those shirts. Throwing down $10 for a gaming shirt every once in a while to keep Phil pleased is worth it for her, "dood she can't be a gold digger since she's getting me gifts, she really is mah soulmate."

Just some more things I picked up on.

It's entirely reasonable that Kat works at some sort of clothing store or at the mall. Is it normal to be working at one of these stores until 10pm though?

DSP says Kat's bosses are still messing with her schedule. They keep moving her around from day to night to find the right "fit" for her. She does not like this and neither does Phil.

Pure speculation, and maybe DSP used the wrong words, but when the boss keeps moving a person around to find where they fit might not be a positive thing. Does she not get along with some of her coworkers? I recall Subaru man said she acts like a "pissy bitch" when she has to do something she doesn't want to do. Maybe she is doing something that isn't bad enough to get fired over but is causing headaches where they need to put her somewhere where she will cause less problems.

I could imagine the stress of having to deal with Phil's drama at home spills over to her work. She has chosen a life partner who sits at home all day "working" his "job" that is slowly dying. Money is allegedly tight. He's a manly man who wouldn't even shower or change his shirt everyday if he didn't have to. He's probably not too useful at keeping the house clean, doing laundry, or helping with dinner. Not being able to have a Facebook or Twitter to keep in contact with her old friends back in Michigan probably doesn't help her stress.

Kat allegedly is not happy with having her schedule fluctuate and it must be frustrating to have to go to work everyday knowing that the King of Hate is sitting at home snorting into a microphone for quarters.

I guess we'll have to see what develops.

10 pm isn't unheard of for retail jobs. Usually those stores close around 8 or 9, then there's an hour for cleanup and other misc. tasks.

Having a sliding schedule isn't unheard of for a basic retail job. Part of the scheduling difficulty might be because of everyone else's schedule. One of the headaches with those types of jobs is a sliding schedule. You might work five days a week, but Monday and Tuesday is 9-5, Wednesday is late in the afternoon to closing etc. It might also be a case of working in different departments, depending on the store.

To be fair, having a schedule changing like that is a pain. That's why most people outside of their early 20's don't work low-level retail jobs unless there are no other options.

As far as Kat being stressed at work because of Phil drama...eh, maybe? It's hard to say with such limited information, but it doesn't seem like she particularly cares one way or the other what happens to Phil. It's not like she's defending him on Twitter or supporting him during streams. The few times she has shown up, the most she's done is parrot some of his views, but not in a particularly passionate way. Based on Phil's late night tweets and some of his comments, it doesn't sound like they talk much at all.

I don't think it is a case of her not being able to have social media, I just don't think she has any old friends to keep in touch with. Kat is just a relatively blank slate of a person. I don't think she's necessarily happy with Phil, but I don't think she is unhappy either. I think she's just content. She strikes me as a very simple person with very simple needs. I think that's why she ended up with Phil in the first place. Anybody with a more dynamic personality wouldn't end up with Phil. That's why things fell apart with Leanna. Phil is miserable when he has to interact and socialize with people, or even just leave the house in general. The gout mansion is not a welcoming place for anyone with ambition.

Kat gives no shits about Phil's "drama", all she cares about is that she has a place to stay. Every time we've seen her with Phil as he's ranting about detractors, she just stares off into space waiting for this shit to end. If Phil does ask her something about detractors, her response is a parroting of Phil's "detractors are stupid and bad" garbage. Again, it's all about keeping Phil pleased so she can stay in the house. The second Leanna started to show no interest in Phil's drama, Phil nuked the relationship. Kat is aware of this and will fill the role of shoulder to cry on until she can manipulate some other hapless dope, preferably one that isn't such a manchild crybaby. I agree that Kat has no reason to have social media (one reason being she has nothing at all interesting to say), as I imagine all of the friends she had back home were just friends of her ex, and certainly none of them would want to keep in contact with her after she did what she did to that guy.

Random thoughts:

1) I wonder if when (if at all?) DSP met Leanna's friends, whether he told them he was a former pro fighting game player and/or pro streamer...On the one hand, his huge ego would encourage it, BUT his paranoia of detractors might override this. He isn't well versed in real life interaction...

2) how do you think Kat told her family she was moving across country to live with a "pro streamer" who was funding the whole move?

Given the Subaru guy had moved her on, I can't imagine how the family could see it as being positive in ANY way/shape or form? Would she dare should them video of his swearing/insulting & daily begging/money troubles?

3) Will be interesting to see if Kat is there for Halloween... She might "have to work" a late shift that day. He's so egotistical that he doesn't want her to stream or to be with him on stream UNLESS he 100% controls it
