And another saying he can't do collabs.

"I've tried", lol. Is he just hoping that everyone has forgotten his chance to collab with Cryaotic for Monster Hunter World now, only to back out so he could instead ragequit DBFZ twice?

Oh I remember, there's also the time when Arturo raided him and 5 minutes later DSP says "Well guys, that's my time for the night, see you all later." He bitches about money issues and when an opportunity to get more viewers, which means a chance for more money, he fucking runs. The term "shooting yourself in the foot" doesn't do justice for what DSP does. He fucking shotguns himself in the knee then cries about having difficulty walking.

He only wants more money if it involves not having to do extra work, and considering he treats playing videogames like it's a 8-5 office job, it's not shocking he tucked tail and ran.

If I were Phil, here's what I'd do.

1) Acknowledge the past. Phil has a tendency to bury the past. Rather, he should make light of it. If someone asked him "How's the gout, Phil?" I'd probably say something to the likes of "Doing great, thanks," or something like that. He knows his reputation and his problems. Acknowledge that, move on, and don't bury it.

2) Be more interactive. Interactive doesn't mean just talking with the chat, and turning them for answers. But find ways to involve them with the gameplay. Telltale games were great about that. More audience participation means better audience retention which means higher revenues.

3) Be part of a community. Phil's greatest weakness is that he's very isolated from everyone else on Twitch. He's not part of a gaming community, and that's going to limit his ability to grow as a streamer. If Phil were part of a community, his viewership would increase as well as his reputation.

4) Be a better gamer. From my view, Phil is a mediocre gamer. He does display some adeptness with games, but his tendency to blame everything and everyone but himself really handicaps himself. The result is that he doesn't seek to improve himself and work past the issues that he sees. He always takes the easiest road and never really challenges himself. If he wants to be a better gamer, he needs to learn how to criticize himself and be slow about blaming others. Yes, the game may have flaws, and that person may be using cheap moves, but a better gamer would ask, "How do I move past this? What can I do to improve?"

I doubt that Phil will read this and improve, but I am :optimistic:.

I really don't hate the guy, but he does lots of things that annoy me...

Phil could be a better gamer if he didn't divide his attention between so many games at once. Playing a game is a bit of an exercise in muscle memory and mental memory. When he jumps across games and genres on a daily basis instead of sitting down and focusing on one, he doesn't develop that memory that'd show a skill improvement. Him jumping from Dragon Quest XI, to Black Ops 4, to WWE2Kwhatever, and more doesn't do favors for him. There's no central mechanics or ruleset between the games. And that aside, when he plays games of the same series it feels like anything he may have learned from the previous games doesn't carry over.

He has a lot more problems to overcome than just that, he's half-blind, pig-headed and refuses to learn, and has little to no reasoning skill. To top it all off his whole "I did nothing wrong I did everything correct" attitude means he'll never realize any of these flaws and work on them. Even if Phil directly read your comment he'd come up with some mental gymnastics excuse as to why it won't work "dood then I won't get viewers" or some bullshit. He will forever be shit at gaming, mind you it's clear at this point he hates video games.

Tbh all Phil would need to do to, is acknowledge TIHYDPs and make some of them himself.
Pretty sure he already did this and it collapsed because his ego couldn't handle the slightest of barbs. I bet a TIHYDP made by DelusionalSydePhil would be the most boring TIHYDP ever.

He needs to do far more than that.

  • He needs to stop putting so much pressure on his viewers to pay his way. Do your job, the money will come or it won't, it's not their problem.
  • Needs to stop blaming absolutely every thing and one for his problems and lack of skill in games.
  • Needs to stop taking games so seriously (what's with all the "it's not my fault, what could I do?"). They're games, have fun.
  • Needs to stop leaning in to the fucking mic and snorting and burping. Have some common fucking manners.
  • Needs to start poking fun at himself/allowing others to poke fun at him.
  • Needs to stop provoking reactions. Let's not lie, his Dark Souls and MGS playthroughs come off as spiteful, and provoking the fanbases don't help.

Those are off the top of my head, I'm damn sure there's more he could do to help himself.

I know it's really easy to see how much more he could improve, but a lot of that advice doesn't really help him. He's a mid 30's dude set in his ways and that advice is more of how to improve him as a person and not as a streamer. So a lot of his problems are just himself, really.

Except that was not a real TIHYDP.
He needs to actually make a legit one, not just cherrypick the moments where he "looks good" and pretend the bad parts don't exist.
