the merits of throwing quarters at the monkey to make him dance

That's exactly my point. He was trying to use "well Dave got mad cause he didn't get any tips" as evidence that it's more entertaining when he doesn't get troll cheers, but in that stream he DID get troll cheers.

I agree though and my whole issue is with the hateful rants about troll cheerers that contribute nothing. Troll cheerers are either long time fans who just want to fuck with dave a little, long time detractors who don't mind throwing pennies at a monkey, or brand new detractors who are excited by the thrill of making a 35yo man do something for pocket change.

I don't understand why we talk about them at all, let alone why there's so much hateful vitriol.

I agree for the most part, I don't care what people do with their money. I don't care that Tut gave him thousands. It prolongs the trainwreck and sometimes we get a good rant out of it. I still think it's a little sad though and withhold my right to take the piss out of everyone involved in this shit show.

It's not like most troll cheers are really worth anything anyway. Isn't 25 bits like 30 cents? It's not like you can do anything with it. Do it too much though and you may as well just sub to him and get it over with.

One of our math nerds should break down what portion of his money comes from troll cheers. I'm willing to be it's a pretty small share of the $10k a month he's pulling in.

If each troll cheer were a dollar (they aren't) it would take a thousand a month, approx 30 a day, to make a 10% impact in his finances.

Whether you think it's dumb or not, it's not enough money either way for people to care about.

For me, it's not about giving him money. Seems to be a issue for some people here but for me it's not. It's just that it's a waste most the time. He'll either just not react at all, or read it to himself, mock the person and that's it. Those are the ones I personally take the piss out of, no reaction and you're out money. That's a waste any way you look at it.

If it gets a reaction then fuck it, troll cheer away. I won't do it but I can sit back and appreciate a well done troll cheer.

its come to my attention that the farm, or this subforum. only one i browse has become a battle field of do's and dont's for detracting.

you cant do this, you can only do this. etc etc. when the basis of this subforum, at least to my knowledge was cataloging phils adventures of him being a jackass and/or idiot.

to which is slightly still the same thing but alot of in fighting of eachother because this person isnt detracting like they should?

i for one am sick of seeing it whenever i come to see what dumbass thing phil has done or said today, only to find a couple members bickering at eachother

All about this.

Most if not all troll cheers will illicit a snide comment and maybe a halfhearted insult thrown their way.

It's a bit of a gamble, if Phil is in a pissy mood then he might react to it in the way god intended but you're more than likely going to get nada out of him.

It's like pro wrestling. I'll enjoy it when its good. But I'll cringe when it's bad.

I've always supported the fact that Phil's biggest detractor is Phil. He will fuck up on his own terms and it will be worse than any amount of troll tips can do to him.

I honestly don't give a fuck if people give Dave money or not, what really annoys me is when people give him money to 'troll' him and aren't funny. Like, go fucking workshop that shit if you are that bad at being clever. There's not a pressing deadline to get your 'troll tip/cheer' in by.

I never really thought about it until someone pointed out to me they laugh at both the idiots who throw quarters at him and the people who REE about the people who throw quarters at him. I was just going with the flow until then and realized it's not the money that bothers me, it's the failure at comedy I take umbrage with

I sort of enjoy the failed troll cheers. They're like proto-lolcows.

Maybe we should call them lolflies that buzz around a lolcow and generally get flicked away without thought but every once in a while they get a good bite in and the lolcow reacts

indeed, he usually doesnt react to it anymore. but im not going to get over someones ass for chucking pennies at him. to me alot of the best content from phil has been from detractors fucking with him.

and without em, i think phils life would just end up being wake up, get mad at game, go to sleep. wouldnt have these off subject rants, or gin fueled nights.

edit: like elo hell, all it would have been was seeing fakesydephil and thats it. but because people pozloaded my neghole, we got to see fakesydephil as well as him get upset about detractors fkin his life up and him trying to hide the truth etc etc, we get more info and see more exchanges

I think it's worth noting that most troll cheers probably aren't made with the cheerer's money, but that they watch some terrible ads to build up some credit to throw at the dancing monkey.

It’s the life cycle of an internet clown. It’s like CWC, there’s a shift in the DSP show and there’s a group of people who believe that DSP produces the best content if left alone. Others believe otherwise, and that all the best DSP material comes from outside influences. Or trolls. Cyber bullies. Detractors.

It just depends on if you believe trolling and cyberbullying is a good pastime, that’s what I think. I hate these dumbass ratings on this dumbass forum, but now I kinda appreciate them because I can build a narrative and figure out who of you are, for lack of better terms, nerds and wimps who think bullies should be locked up.

This is just a natural progression of things. There’s a lot of similarities between CWC and DSP, I think, if you feel comfortable making a stretch.

Honestly, I only oppose giving Pigroach money because he tends to do dumber and more desperate (and thus hilarious) things when he actually has to try a bit to keep his hikikomori lifestyle. When the money flows, he can just duck out of doing the thing he hates (play games) and snort and honk for two hours about shit no one cares about, but when it's threatened he moves as much as his laziness can let him to try and keep the Pigcult throwing nickels at him.

If people want to throw money at Dave, cool. It's your money, do whatever you want with it. Hell, that logic applies to both his actual supporters and detractors.

But, if you're throwing money and making the exact same style of troll cheer that we've seen over and over again and come here looking for asspats, don't be surprised when you get called dumb. If you think it is funny, more power to you, but read the room. The best way I can think to describe it is if you had a younger sibling who heard a joke somewhere and keeps repeating it over and over. It's not like we don't like people trolling Phil, the general thread is pretty consistently filled with screencaps/descriptions of people trolling Phil in chat. And it obviously isn't some anti bullying stance or anything of that sort because, well, look at this site for one, and look at how many people openly shit on Phil in Tevin's chat and other places.

As for people caring too much, eh, I'm not naive enough to say some people don't get worked up over it, but I think it's the people being called dumb that get way too defensive about it. We all say/do dumb shit from time to time, look no further than the escort saga. It's not the end of the world and for something small like this, it'll probably get forgotten in a few posts.

I don't even get what this debate is about, because you're never going to be able to stop troll cheers.
Even DSP's own fanbase send him facetious cheers all the time and ask about detractors.

This whole argument is like saying "water is wet"

It wasn’t even a debate until dude came along. All I did was said people who troll cheer are faggots, and dude was off to the races. I just made a statement, gave my opinion.

I am well aware that stopping troll cheers is impossible. I just want people to understand that troll cheers, along with legit cheers, subs, and tips, it adds up. You might look at it like, “eh, it’s a quarter each time, I can make fun of him 4 times and hope he actually reads them.” But at the end of the month it can make more of a dent than most people realize.

Can’t change who you are I guess...

People should just let Troll cheers happen and just enjoy the show. Have some laughs that they're doing it and most of the time wasting their own time, have the laugh when once in awhile DSP actually falls for a troll cheer.

Can we agree that the top-tier dumb troll move is tipping less than $5, so it doesn't even show up on screen, and Phil reads the message silently first, goes "yeah, a troll tip", and, at most, gives a "thanks for the money, dummy" response?

I tried to look at it once, but you'd have to go through each cheer to see if it was an actual troll. Then you get those cheers from people who were/are fans that could either be trolling (trying to get a rise out of Phil) or genuinely stupid questions. You're right those that's it's a small percentage. The troll tips are sometimes a little more significant, maybe like 5% of a normal month's take from tips.

Haha if you add something inside the quote it looks like they said it

[Wait, do people do that? yes that's the dumbest thing possible]

Yeah my eyeball estimate is that it's about 2-3% of his money, up to about 5% depending on the month/game/what you call a 'troll tip'

I'd probably put people that do this on like Sidella tier of exceptional. If you're gonna give the pig money, which hey up to that person, at least have it show up on screen so the stream can read it when he won't.

And I called you a faggot and here we are. Maybe I’ll spawn another thread about the merits of calling a wannabe janitor a faggot and get threadbanned from a thread I spawned when I told you to make it since you wanna play gatekeeper.

Which is why I don’t get too hung up on troll cheers because even if they’re lame as hell someone will bitch about them and whine that DSP gets money for being a disgusting sloppy whore of a children’s entertainer.

Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?

Not hard to throw out a quip someone else said first.
