You are technically correct, it's slightly below 1,000 USD/hour.

It's going to be interesting to see how quickly and how far Waid's gofundme will go, he's gotten 4.2k in 5 hours so far. So far it looks like Zack's got enough money to fund his by himself and hopefully Waid will have to cover his legal costs after losing. One thing is for certain, CG is chomping at the bit to throw money at Zack and he will far outperform Waid's gofundme if needed.

$25K is a lot. That's apparently what Mark Zaid charges for a couple butthurt tweets.

What's more interesting to me is that Waid has only just put this up, so has Zaid already gone through his retainer of what, 10-15k? Waid's going to be in the poorhouse even with this extra money.

At one point I would have said Waid did this while his lawyer wasn't present. But now that we've gotten to know Zaid a bit more, I can confidently say Zaid drank the Kool-Aid and fully supports dumb moves like this.

Right now it's slightly less than 1,100 USD/hour, so it's speeding up.

MW did call and 'express concern' and 'shed more light on the situation' this and MW own statements will sink him. I've also read heard that the Twitter account holder was a comic creator at Antarctic and was fired shortly after this shit show.

I'm thinking that the "Mark Waid did not bully anyone at our company" and the supposed "other factors" could be used as a defense by Mark Zaid for Mark Waid.

Defamation is the second cause of action in the case, but isn't really necessary for the tortious interference claim. Conceivably, the defamation claim could be thrown out entirely and leave the tortious interference claim intact. Waid doesn't need to have defamed Meyer to have tortiously interfered with the contract using threats.
