Zaid probably got his reputation off of this case, as opposed to the others, who were well established in their fields before the Libya lawsuit.

Excluding the Libya case, what is Zaid's work history? Len Shaner's lawyer was one other case I know of a lawyer making their case sound like a crusade, but at least he was smart enough to not openly boast of their defense plans.

1) Zaid already blew his freebie and goodwill with the first extension.

I'd say not to acquiesce to a second extension because in the interim, Mark Zaid himself has enthusiastically joined in on the defamation campaign that the lawsuit is about and is publicly acting incredibly unprofessionally and is an embarrassment.

In short, if he has time to act like a circus clown all day on Twitter, he has time to file his papers on time.

I get the feeling Z/Waid are only harping on the defamation angle of the lawsuit which is, at best, tacked on the main lawsuit. Most of the donation comments I'm seeing on the GFM page don't mention the Tort at all.

It does, but it's an ancillary charge and not the main one, so he's still fucked for the worse charge. These dummies also don't realize that having the pros line up like this also gives strength to the FTC complaint too, though that one probably will sleep until corporate also gets involved.

The tort is boring and there's not much way to put a positive spin on deliberately, maliciously trying to destroy someone's livelihood by burning their book.

So basically, he represents spooks and tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists, gets the government to release documents, if there appears to be some sort of grounds, he gets them to settle for some cash. That's not also including his representation of a billionaire Egyptian who claimed that his son was killed in the Princess Diana car crash because he was going to marry her...whilst she was already married with two kids...and the documents relied on turned out to be fakes...

Sounds like a conspiracy theory version of Landau, maybe minus the incompetence.
