Greta Gustava Martela / Kjel Anderson & Nina Chaubal / Niraj Chaubal - Stole $350k+ from Trans Lifeline, kill count of 2+ from negligence, Founders of Sisterwood/La Zorra.

The thing that I find weird is seeing idiots push TLL following a major scandal where two founding members were kicked out and a ton of evidence that they never answered calls, stole money, and didn’t properly train volunteers.
Seriously, the ousting of Kjel and Parjeet and their reckless and unlawful use of TLL funds was never widely reported. Nor was it really advertised by any media sources.

If I recall, the only real announcement from the board regarding Greta's & Nina's departure from TLL was posted to their social media (Facebook?) and possibly their web site as well. A few people close to TLL or following them shared the social media post, but that was about the extent of it. (I'll give the board bonus points if their exact phrasing of "transitioned out of..." was meant unironically.)

As @Sweet and Savoury posted, the fact that we were one of the few outside observers to post the announcement makes it easier for TLL asspatters to dismiss and downplay the departures since that "hate group" - or whatever their current creative euphemism for the 'Farms is - posted about it.

Heck, celebrities such as Miley Cyrus have touted TLL as one of the greatest things since sliced bread. That said, I wonder if Miley actually endorsed the organization, or if it was her publicist(s) that did it when TLL sought out celebrity endorsements. It wouldn't be the first time a celebrity endorsement has been obtained from a celebrity that hasn't done due diligence prior to said endorsement.

I haven’t seen anyone mention the Trevor Project which is a legitimate suicide prevention hotline for lgtb, doesn’t have scandals associated with it, and actually conducts training for staff.
Naming matters: the name "Trevor Project" doesn't say anything to anyone. I hate to say that but Kjel set up his conjob perfectly.

I hadn't heard of the Trevor Project until my initial lurking on this thread. Anyone else not in the know would likely hear that name for the first time and also wonder, "What's/who's that?" Had the organization been named something such as "Trevor Project to Stop Trans Suicide" and used Trevor Project as a shortened form, they would have had a name that better described its purpose and function, even if it is more of a mouthful to say.

Trans Creditline.

A very apt reference given how much money Greta & Nina took out as salaries and other compensation along with the additional $4500 loan Greta managed to finagle from the TLL board with no written terms or conditions.

We don't actually know the conditions of the loan and we're never likely to unless a former board member leaks them. Regardless of the terms, it was still inappropriate, though.

2017 and 2018 will be very interesting because I expect there are more “loans” to Shrek and co. Niraj was arrested by ICE in 2017 and then in 2018 they went through hiring a lawyer and the sham asylum claim.

It’s still very odd how he managed to get out of that and avoid being deported back to India.

2017, in particular, will be interesting. Greta and Nina moved from Chicago back to Cali, Nina had ongoing legal costs, and Nina and Greta were barely involved with TLL at all that year despite continuing to draw salaries.

There's nothing especially odd about Nina avoiding deportation. I posted the stats in this thread at the time and the vast majority of people who retain a lawyer and have a valid pathway immediately open to them have deportation proceedings dismissed. It varies by state, but the stats from Illinois were heavily in favour of the person looking to stay.

2018 will be interesting because it might show whether Greta and Nina were essentially paid to go away. It will also show the extent to which people they'd given "jobs" with TLL were retained as employees after the departure of Greta and Nina - given that they're paying the new executives a proper salary, I wouldn't be surprised if staff costs have been cut elsewhere.

While the new leadership of TLL did promise to keep its userbase informed of its review process, I haven't seen any updates published on their social media accounts and nor have I seen anything posted by people who signed up for the mailing list for updates. Management and users alike seem content to pretend nothing untoward ever happened.

The Trevor Project is a youth project and is not trans-focused. It's not especially surprising that it's not well known among TLL's target group.

You're right. All we know is what was reported on the 990: the loan details weren't put in writing. If TLL were to have a CPA firm audit its books or be on the receiving end of an IRS examination, though, such a loan would very likely be scrutinized as a questionable business practice.

It wouldn't surprise me if TLL gave both Greta & Nina some sort of severance package. Given the aggressive personalities we've seen the pair exhibit, they seem to be the type that would demand it or threaten some sort of repercussions. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the current board reminded Greta & Nina that any irregularities that happened under their watch could cause a world of trouble for them so it would be best to take the money and leave quietly with the promise not to disparage each other post-exit.

We'll know much more in about a year when the 2018 Return gets published and we see who all is on the board and who all received compensation (both how many and how much).

TLL's users are largely asspatters and white knights. Wasn't it mentioned before that troons such as ADF would call TLL merely to shoot the breeze? They certainly wouldn't be the ones to demand more accountability. Consequently, the board's promise of, "We'll be more transparent moving on," will be accepted without question. TLL did put their 2015 and 2016 returns on their web site to make it look like they're being more transparent. However, the biggest question is whether the management culture and the answered call ratio have improved in a measurable and meaningful way. With Bunny Saint-Bunny at the helm as Director of Operations, I'm not exactly confident there's been changes for the better.

Thanks for further clarifying this.

Although I'm sure the Trevor project would be a much better resource for youth of any orientation and identity to turn to in times of crisis, it won't surprise me if trans youth feel as if TLL is the go-to option simply because the first T stands for Trans and the faulty belief - in the name of social justice - that one should blindly support their own.

They still have a ridiculous amount of staff given what they actually do and their small budget, so I remain cynical.

Interim Executive Director (Sam Ames)
Deputy Executive Director (Elena Rose Vera)
Director of Operations (Tiffany Saint-Bunny)
Director of Communications (Stella Shaffer)
Hotline Program Director (IV S)
Microgrants Program Director (Jules Baldino)
Office Manager (Jaden Pendergast)

They also have a "Communications Team Member", although that's probably an unpaid role.

What the fuck does a "Microgrants Program Director" do exactly? Or is that just a fancy millennial name for the person that handles the petty cash?

So there was a time where they were taking in donations and selling to potential donors "we'll use this money to fan out opportunities across the board".

It's probably a legit position tbh but in this context it's a shit-show.

Microgrants is their project which gives money to troons for ID/name changes. It used to be the Trans Assistance Project before the two organisations merged.

Both the hotline project and microgrants project probably justify an employee. I'm more concerned by them having an ED, a Deputy ED, AND a DoO AND a Director of Communications. That's a lot of senior staff for a tiny organisation and is something usually only found in organisations with much bigger budgets. I question what work each of those people are actually doing on a daily basis.

Militaries typically have 1 commissioned officer, 1 Staff NCO, and 2 NCOs for every lower level enlisted. It ensured someone in a leadership position was always around to yell at the E1-3s and lots of guys got fancy titles. Clearly the most efficient way to run an organization.

Another anarchist that wants to take to the streets and wants everything to fuck off and burn, but has no idea what to put in its place (other than building a personal fortress). I get why they don't want to vote, but politics that starts and ends with destroying government isn't politics at all - it's a childish temper tantrum.

If you're big enough to swagger all over social media, telling people they're wrong for voting, then damn right you'd better have some concrete suggestions as to what to do as an alternative.

After MLK was murdered many blacks decided to hell with unionizing, voting and civil disobedience and they took to the streets, rioted and burned shit down. It resulted in them losing much of the political progress that had been made and ensured the ghettos continued for another forty years. Had they stayed the course MLK and others had worked towards since the end of WWII things would be so much better for black communities.

It’s fucking idiots like “Leah Mitchell” that help keep black communities disinfrachized, weak and poor with their thoughtlessness, impatience and inability to plan long term. Leah and her ilk are like toddlers throwing a tantrum trying to get their way and all that does is ensure they aren’t taken seriously. It helps further the racist opinion that most blacks mindless thugs not ready for civilized society and democracy.

People like Leah go into the political process thinking, “What’s in it for me?” If they don’t get what they want NOW NOW NOW, they’re not interested. American society is in an interesting place right now, and a smart activist movement could make some real positive change. But so many people are either out for themselves or flailing around looking to hit someone that they can’t or won’t see that.

This "Leah" person needs to fuck off if you're not going to be at all helpful in the voting process, as much as we dislike Greta and Nina, they are keeping themselves civilized in this discussion and Nina is telling people to go out and vote while this dumbfuck Leah is screaming 'muh oppression' and other bullshit like the dumb anarchist she probably is.

Do these idiots realize if you raise taxes and subsequently set limits on rent that landlords won’t have money to fix properties or pay the exorbitant taxes and utilities? Then what, they expect the system to crash and there won’t be property laws? Everyone will live rent free and happy wherever they feel like?

I realize trannies don’t understand logic or have rational thoughts but rent is high in California due to the taxes. Everything is expensive as shit because of taxes.

They don't think about "and then what". They don't consider it their responsibility to have the answer to that question. They want to burn shit to the ground and leave the problem of what happens next to someone else.

It's a bit of a window into how people like Greta and Nina gain influence. They don't have any viable answers either but they're still several steps ahead of the rest by virtue of having a shipping container in the desert.
