I agree with you, but playing the devil's advocate, if Meyer's lawyer bills do not surpass the amount raised, what should be done with the surplus? Just give it to Meyer outright? Refund to the later donators? I'm not sure, but either of those ideas would probably be less dangerous than the "war chest" idea.
The other guy in @H3R0N1K's latest post is Del Arroz, right?

Meyer keeps it or decides to donate it to a charity. People are donating to Zack v Waid, not anybody else. If somebody else gets in trouble then CG can decide if that cause is worthy or not. I get it's like a CBDF idea, but there are issues i have with it.
Who holds the money? is it held in escrow? who decides who gets to use it (CG purity tests)? who decides what actions are worthy of the war chest, what if majority of CG disagree with the decision?@Love Soze said Ben Hennesy wants to go after people for defamation (extremely expensive and hard to prove). I've only thought about it for 5min and I'm sure there are many other questions that are not answered.

I agree with the charity idea or something similar. Giving back what wasn't used would kinda be impossible as I doubt the lawsuit costs would cut nicely into the donation money and it'd be insanity trying to figure out who owes what. On the other end it would just be a huge offering of money, not individual little boxes containing a single person's donation.
He could keep it but Waid's going to be coughing up money by the end of it. There's not really a need for the excess assuming he wins.

Ethan’s not a gatekeeper, guys! He just gets to declare how third parties act, who shall denounce what and excommunicate whomever doesn’t do what he tells them to do, if he thinks it might somehow affect his bottom line (never mind how it might affect someone else’s bottom line). He’s not a gatekeeper, though, and anyone can be in Comicsgate. This whole thing is becoming a running joke. Ethan fights for control of the name Comicsgate to "protect it" (but he doesn’t own it for himself, bro! Anyone can use it. Trust him!) He names his streams Comicsgate Live and then curates the talent he brings on, declaring them Comicsgate (but that’s just whatever and he’s not deciding who is seen as Comicsgate). He absolutely is not a gatekeeper who defines what is and isn’t Comicsgate, because anyone who wants to join can do so (before he immediately goes on to explain who and what he will and won’t allow in).

Like it’s been mentioned before it’s his channel, if speds want to act entitled to his time (like that British couple a while back) they should advertise themselves better. Ive seen CG backed titles get success without Ethan’s help, if the PieMan doesn’t want to advertise anything why should he be forced to?
The Nerkish crap is him protecting himself from psychos like Jason Yunbluth. Immediately after discovering Nerkish he made a long winded autistic screech in twitter form (his last DramaGate) tying Vox Day, Nerkish and EVS together. Jason (claims he) took down Vox Day’s IGG by tying him to anti-semitism and has been on a warpath to tie VD to EVS as well. Now he discovered Nerkish who does dark humor and guess which types are humorless pricks who take jokes 100% serious and devoid them of context? The same people gunning for EVS any way they can get at him.

After reading all the stuff about EVS, I must say that I'm all for comics being free of diversity quota-induced shitty writing but it seems like Comicsgate is turning sour and becoming the gatekeepers they hate. If this keeps up then the comics industry (especially capeshit) is better off eating themselves up and fade into obscurity.

It's gone sour because pro-CG people discovered there's money to be made from pro-CG spergs, which opened up all those exploitation concerns. I mean, without Kickstarter money, there really isn't anything worth gatekeeping in the 1st place, is there?
The way the Zack GoFundMe is being run is very shady imo, and far too ripe for exploitation.
The American Comics industry had to thoroughly die for SJWs to be able to come onboard it in the 1st place. Right now, I wouldn't be too concerned about Manga/Anime getting infested or whatever, because they're only booming as a medium at this point. Even that little Crunchyroll controversy is really small-fry if you think about it.
Just like politics can't revive a dying industry, they can't kill a healthy one.

If the big names in CG didn't do some level of gate-keeping to keep people like Vox Day and his cronies far away from them, they face the prospect of getting banned off YouTube, Twitter, and Indiegogo.
