That video did bring up some good points. Rather, one good point. That the framing of the scenes were pretty wtf if they weren't trying to make it fan service. It is then ruined by Geoff going on about everything else and how muh PTSD therefore bad or how it's okay to like the show you just have to acknowledge it was bad or offensive.

I was against you at the start Geoff, but then you managed to sway me quite a bit with the framing argument (maybe because it was less political and more analytical, hint hint). It then crashed and burned when you said 5% of the USA has PTSD, thus a significant amount of people can't watch the show. Go back to talking about how great Naruto openings are because you obviously are unable to stop making things political. Maybe I should've expected that when he started the video with talking about how rape is bad and is a topical issue. Really needed help figuring that one out, thanks bro.

Optimistic but I think thrashing a more beloved property would be a bigger channel slayer than Goblin Slayer (haha puns)

But I did watch the video today and wanted to make some comment on it but everytime I try to recall what he was talking about, I’m just thinking of the cute animals. My brain is connecting the cute animals to sexual violence and that’s not...great.
I get why he/his editor (if he has one) did that but I don’t feel like that’s really the best choice because of what I described above. I’ll need to watch the video again without the visuals but I just think describing sexual violence over clips of cutesy kittens and puppies instead of relevant footage (like the non-graphic scenes in the manga/anime) is not a good idea due to the contrast.

But he’s the only youtuber thats made me think of sexual assualt while looking at a cute kitten so...good job. I guess /sneed

Of all the pseudo-anime in the world, I'm pretty sure Wakfu would be closer to being an actual anime, since that had at least two episodes done by different anime studios (Madhouse for Nox's backstory episode [with art done by Masaaki Yuasa] and Studio Ghibli with the Ogrest special)

Biggest issues with the "oh no, Goblin Slayer promotes [whatever]/harms those with PTSD/uses faceless people to try to force emotions through laziness," arguements, is that it both assumes all non-named characters have no motivations, lives, or existence outside of furthering the plot, and at the same time, doesn't see the series for its titular character. It's not necessarily about what happens to them, so much as Goblin Slayer's response to what happened. In most anime/manga, or even in most heroic archetypes in general, given that history, they'd typically be presented as striving to prevent any sort of harm to befall those in front of them, or that they can immediately help. Even if it involves self-sacrifice or suicidial altruism. With Goblin Slayer, instead of rushing to the fallen mage to [possibly] save her, however slim a chance, he kills her and continues on with his extermination. They're more characters to show how detached he's become from his humanity, in his lack of emotional response to their plight.

Also, did you know that there is a postal ballot referendum on electoral reform in BC right now, the third in 15 years? You think somebody as politically woke as Jeff would say something about it (PR in Canada is mostly a left-wing cause). But a quick search of Twitter shows nothing about it at all.

Now maybe he is so ill-informed about he says nothing at all. But more likely is that Jeff talks more about American politics because it brings the attention and the dopamine hits Twitter gives with its likes and re-Tweets that he so clearly craves than a local issue that has more direct bearing on his life but nobody outside of Canada cares about.

One of the things Trudeau originally campaigned on was changing the voting system from FPTP, which he dropped in 2017 when he realized that it would kill future chances at maintaining a house majority to bringing over trucks of peace. Currently he says he'll revisit it if the other parties agree to use anything other than PR (really makes you think). It's not really a left-wing cause as it is a third-party cause, it just happens that the major third party is the extra left-wing NDP.

From a jackass strategy standpoint, it makes even more sense to not move away from FPTP because now there's a chance that the People's Party will split the conservative vote from the CPC, while NDP Jagmeet Singh is such a wet bag that there's no equivalent danger on the left.

There's a perception that there isn't as much insanity in Canadian politics as there are in the US, but there are genuinely fucked up things happening up north, like how the creation of the now-removed Ontario sex ed curriculum was overseen by a literal pedophile.
Five bucks that Geoff goes on more platitudes about how Bernier is alt-right, though. Sure hope it backfires on his ass as badly as all that Goblin Slayer whining did.
