Furry Fandom and Drama General

I’ve honestly never seen a furry vet tech. The most common jobs I’ve seen are unemployed and EMT.
I see a lot in IT but they're usually working low level positions. If it's a decent position they won't disclose it because they don't want their boss knowing.

Always interesting watching people in this fandom do everything they can to ignore why the furry fandom is so ridiculed.
Maybe it's because the fandom has a sex deviant reputation, cemented by shit like kero and the zoosadists along with other cows with threads here. And that's not counting the fandom's new obsession with identity politics and political drama in general.

The truth about most furries is that they do not give the slightest iota of a shit about animal science. They couldn't give less of a shit abouy biology, ecology, natural history, whatever.

For that matter, really only a few "care" or actually know anything about actual animals. The interest in animals is a very superficial one, really, its only the looks of animals that matter. It's how cute they are and how kinky their dicks are.

Also most couldn't get through vet school if they tried. Shits designed to tear you down and weed out the people who don't actually have the brains or the work ethic (organic chem, looking at you).

I'm a little late to the punch about this, but this is kinda something that irks me slightly when it comes to furry fiction. There's so much potential to have characters y'know, act like animals, and yet we'll be lucky if they mention their ears folding or shifting depending on their mood.

This actually depends on the writer. The more popular writers are basically writing porn and putting animal forms over the humans that are involved. And generally speaking, the more popular furry writers probably wouldn't be published authors if it weren't for the niche that is the furry fandom.

Significant :powerlevel: probably, but most of the furries I talk to on a daily basis have a programming or information security background. Their median income is probably 80K-90K USD/year, not counting their partners' (after all, why settle for one boyfriend when you can have twenty?).

It's not exactly enough to land them in the ranks of 1%, but they make a living.

Is this the thread where I can post a general lol kill furries meme? I think I found a good one.

Just some random-sperging of some ideas...

I know Adiago has already been mentioned in this thread, but is it possible that she could sustain her own thread? She recently just had yet another guy dump her ass, fully-equipped with angry, spergy, revenge-vent art with her vaging him out in the description. This is about the 3rd guy in a row who's dumped her after figuring out what a fucked-up individual she is. Idk, just thought I'd mention it: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29266863

Archiving, unfortunately, isn't much of an option since you have to be registered on FA, but I archived it anyway: http://archive.is/0CTuE

Here's what the description says (sorry for the poor screenshot, I'm doing this on mobile):

"I figured if the character I love was thrown away, why can't i at least draw him..its been officially..one entire month of silence and being thrown away like a used doll..A month of anguish beyond comprehension with no end in sight and not a drop of remorse or apology. A very long month.."

Also, not too long ago, she received an artist's beware post due to the fact that she just randomly decided that she wanted to block and cut off a commissioner (who had already paid for their art) cold turkey because she didn't like the fact that they were venting to their friend about being frustrated with how slow she was to complete the artwork:

She doesn't produce cow-content on a daily (or even weekly) basis, but when she does it's pretty exceptional.

Whenever people in the news cover furries (even in a positive light), it doesn’t really do much good for anyone. It’s a weird little subculture that people are trying to either normalize or demonize when at its heart (and where it started) was just an appreciation for a type of character design and it shouldn’t be such a big deal to anyone. Both sides here are in the wrong because they’re acting like retards.

The people in the comments arguing against them are most likely doing some form of trollshielding because otherwise they wouldn’t give a shit enough to say something in the first place or hell, do it with their actual names visible for all to see what fucking sperg they are. Then you have the media and the people defending the fandom. They’re trying to paint something like this as normal, and it isn’t. Statistically, it is far from a norm. Stop acting like it is.

The only reason anyone in the media is giving a shit in the news is because of the LGBT side of it that people forced into it like a rapist’s dirty, unwashed cock. I’ve seen people argue that that’s part of what was going on that made the fandom devolve to the overly accepting safe space (unless you disagree with them) that it is, but I couldn’t say it’s entirely that. It’s definitely a substantial amount, though. Communities that are too open suffer from being easy to take over by groups looking out only for their own skewed agendas, just how ones that devolve into nothing but increasingly stringent purity tests end up garnering resentment because they ostracize anyone who isn’t their little herd of cattle.

The furry fandom has issues. Major issues at that. Recently there was a crossover with the bdsm silicon injection community where a sub died because he was manipulated into it, the zoosadists (not exclusively furry, but the overlap is what brought it to light), Rainfurrest 2015 (which had more to do with the fact that the people running it did nothing and it attracted the worst crowds while driving away anyone with even a minuscule of sanity), there was some pedo ring that got busted in Pennsylvania, a lot of fucked up shit. Do furries need to admit these to strangers so they make themselves look bad? No. Do they need to admit them to each other and do something about it? Absolutely!

And I see comments are now closed, on the article.

I love how furry ‘Wesley Cooper’ is all ‘hey, explain yourselves, prove furries are pervs’, like that proof isn’t all over the internet. It’s like he thinks all furry porn sites are super secret, and the normies have never heard of Google.

Also, I swear all these ‘furries are misunderstood’ articles are all the same. Go talk to furries, hear how they aren’t pervs and what they do. No objective reporting, no digging, no journalism.

I always wonder if the reporter is ‘oh fuck, I drew the short straw this week’ or ‘oh yeah, can’t believe I get paid for this!’

I mean, pretty much. A bit of :powerlevel: but as a fur myself it's never been a "BIG FUCKIN' THING." I've had some good, some bad, but it's just another hobby of mine on the same level of...well whatever the hell else I'm into.

And yeah, the fandom needs to shape up or ship out when it comes to things like pedophilia or zoophila. Funny how furs will screech about "MUH NAZIS/SJWS" but bring up zoophilia, pedophilia, or fuck just even the whole alcohol/drug culture and you can hear a fuckin pin drop.

Has it ever really been a social thing though? I've literally never encountered any kind of fur sub-community based on anything but kinks or 'scalies' or whatever. Nazi and SJW shit didn't appear til Twitter truly took off, as all those weird furry network sites tried to dethrone FA, which ironically just led people to Twitter.

Furry is just the primary layer to all the other bullshit you can expect from people these days. Sexuality, gender, political orientation, "gay baby" or "trash lesbian" or whatever, and then visually they add the furry aspect through an avatar. Either furries became normal internet socialites or fursonas in general became more common and thus attracted normies. I mean, they serve the same role as a thot having a selfie or trolls having anime avatars. It's just an archetype identifier.

Every single good furry friend I've made the last 10 years hasn't once identified with any group; barely even other fursuiters despite having photoshoots etc.

Cliques are bullshit. Your friends are wise.

But this also highlights a related problem in a lot of the comments here: Furry isn't a monoculture. There isn't a single in-group. It's a hodge-podge, loosely-related collection of hundreds (or thousands) of smaller groups, which in turn each have dozens or hundreds of subgroups. Consequently, it's very hard to make general statements about furries without being more wrong than right.

I understand that nuance gets glossed over in pursuit of the lulz but sometimes I wonder if a lot of Kiwis actually grok that concept.

They xist but they might be a minority. I've seen discord servers for artists of vari9us types within the community, i saw one that was a server for farmers, and years and years ago I remember seeing a webring (remember those?) for furries who quilted. I don't think it was that big but still, they had a little html badge. I wish i had known about archiving at the time or i would have saved some of those pages just for the angelfire/geocities aesthetic

I think with furry subcommunities it's just people with multiple hobbies. the problem is that a lot of furries only have one hobby and that is the furry fandom. but I think the less autistic furries want to find other furries they have stuff in common with so they can hang out, even if the groups stay pretty small compared to kink groups.

I'll help you out. This looks really stupid tbh now that i've read it.

Here's a screen of the page since yah, it can't be archived.
