Oh I remember a question asking his favorite Final Fantasy 4 character. He goes through all the characters and ends up not even answering the initial question.
Like dude, everyone has a favorite or a preference. Would it hurt to just say some random character that you prefer?

I don't think I've ever seen him try and talk to chat about random things. I'm not even joking. I'm sure he's done it but it must be so rare that it happening is an event instead of a thing he just does. He can barely answer mundane questions like favorite characters or TV shows. Him starting a conversation never mind continuing must be fascinating to watch.

It's not a matter of needing to be talked into playing online. He waits to go online so that he can get matched with noobs/casuals. If he jumped straight online day 1 he'd risk having to play against folks who know how to play the game, thus negating any chance of him even coming close to winning a match.

i just read an explanation of nintendo
they said they wanted to make it easier for content creators to monetize videos BUT they will have to abide with the new guidelines. the content creators must include their creative input and commentary. raw gameplay is not allowed

'Creators must also use monetisation methods approved by Nintendo,such as YouTube's Partner Program and the Twitch Affiliate Program (among others). No Patreon plugs for you - although the list is apparently due to be updated further along the line' (some news site)

i know phil considers his work transformative,but its bare bones and this bare bone change might not be accepted by nintendo

Sub only is also pretty bad for people like Phil who tend to have a younger audience, since not every kid is lucky enough to get their parent's credit card to pay for a sub. It also sometimes pisses off people who are Patreon follows, but don't want to sub because they don't want to throw 50% of the money at Twitch.

His entire chat is essentially subs. Sub-only mode would prevent probably low double digits of people from chatting.

Tevin's streams of Phil's content are more "transformative" than Phil's streams of whatever game he's playing, poorly. Tevin provides more commentary, insight, and entertainment even though the source material he works with is always boring and awful. He doesn't just stream "raw" DSP content (most of the time) but his streams are "illegal" according to Phil, where as Phil's "raw" gameplay is "art" that is protected under fair use. Sound logic as always from Mr. Dark.

Honestly he's never been suited to livestreaming and it's just another reason his bizness has tanked and remained stagnant save for the appeal of idiots trying to put a band aid (do they know it's Christmas in DSPLand?) on it with forced subs that get bumrushed the fuck out of there every 30 days.

Livestreaming would suggest the streamer take an interest in their audience, engage with ongoing conversation in chat and facilitate interaction by way of jumping into the topics along with them. Interaction to DSP literally means "give money" and that's his only actual understanding of the word.

Keeping in step with his fanbase would also mean he would have to pay attention and process the meaning behind the in-jokes, weird detractor idioms and care about a world outside that office. He doesn't live in reality he lives in 2012 in his head. He doesn't care about memes, he doesn't care about the drama, he doesn't care about grazydream's sexism, sidella's racism, fuckin' waifus and he doesn't care about the country he lives in enough to vote okay! - he's got a business to run, dood!
