Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Long Live the King

Heard that apparently the shit starts to hit the fan within the first 25 minutes and escalates from there.

My prediction:

Godzilla and Mothra team up

They fight Rodan

All three team up to battle Ghidorah in the climax

we get a post credits scene which teases Kong.
I'd be down with this.

A bit off topic but has anyone else got a Godzilla/Toho collection?

I've got a few Heisei films on Laserdisc, back when I collected LDs. IIRC, Godzilla 84, Godzilla vs Biollante, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. I also have the LD boxset of the 98 godzilla toho put out. Has a ton of extras. I guess its nice even though the move is dogshit. Also have the three deluxe boxset for the 3 90s Gamera films. They're pretty nice.

Also have the Mill Creek Gamera Bluray boxset. Just the films with barely and extras. Got it for $20 new, goes for $80 used now.

I just own the DVDs but in terms of figures, I have several Heisei Godzilla figures and a vintage King Ghidorah figure I got from G-Fest one year. I also own a number of action figures from the 1998 film. But I was a stupid kid back then so sue me.

I hope Ghogo shows up in one of these movies.

I don't know if this movie is going to turn out to be good or not....

But can we get whoever edited that trailer together an award for best short film or something?

Seriously, I've never felt compelled to describe anything with Godzilla in it as "operatic" but this felt operatic.

I like how the music fades at the end and the trailer loses all the whimsical atmosphere.

Tell ya what. The monsters look pretty flipping sweet too.

They got Rodan like a 1000% right.

They also fixed the design problems with King Ghidorah by giving him a leaner body with longer bat-like wings. I love Ghidorah to pieces but even I'll admit that his classic design is basically a big fat dragon with fat legs and a tottering posture. Giving him a sleeker look definitely helps to make him a more agile threat.

New trailer apparently is supposed to drop on Sunday. I'm glad they decided to space out the official release to four weeks after Infinity War part 2 comes out. The last thing I want is Avengers stealing all of Big G's thunder.

This might be one of the first times King Ghidorah might actually be recognized by the mainstream public as Goji's arch enemy. You'd be surprised that most non-fans think that Mechagodzilla holds that title. Though to be honest, Destroyah deserves an honorable mention for being the Griffith of all kaiju and murdering Godzilla's son in the Heisei series.

With everything we're seeing so far, this film seems poised to give us the greatest King Ghidorah of all time, which is saying a lot.

The anime Ghidorah in Planet Eater looks really lame by comparison now, lol.
Everything about the anime movies has been underwhelming imo, I did love the ending of the first one when Godzilla Earth wakes up and wrecks everyone's shit though.

Also, it is nice to have at least one film franchise out there that hasn't become an identity politics moral purity test.

I mean nobody is arguing for Godzilla to be a black transsexual with a cock in his mouth (well...not yet).

Godzilla doesn't give a shit about your identity politics. Godzilla hates everyone equally :heart-full:
