Unless I am awfully wrong on living costs in the UK for a family of three (well, okay, four mouths, Carl's a big boy), 100k a year just off Patreon is a great amount of money. It's not particularly easy to piss that away, especially since his wife, as someone in the thread said, does also have a job and that's an additional 25k at least.
What would he even spend all this money on? Coke?
Considering that the average working middle class family income from two parents working full/part time is 30 to 35k per year. Carl pulling in 130k a year from his patreon, plus his wives income over the course of 2 years means that he'd at least have been able to buy a nice house for himself and co in Swindon which is not an expensive market in the UK. It fare outweighs the costs of living considering his NEET background and therefore you really have to wonder where the money went to.
As for the discussion about unfair banning from Patreon
@Null is right, Jones was only the first wave in removing what the silicon valley set deem as unsavory characters. While they may lose money in the short term, it doesn't effect their over all business model because there are always more neutral parties that are not considered politically spicy enough to draw their ire. It may very well be only a matter of time before they begin to target Metokur and Ralph as well, they are going currently for what they would consider the people with the most outreach in terms of audience connection.
It was foolhardy for Sargon to rely completely on one singular platform, a lot of the internet e-celebs harp on about having a secure free speech payment platform, but those with the largest reach who could effectively form a business partnership or some sort of funding system to make their own platform have failed to do so, so far.
That might change with time, but currently it feels like there is a lot of talk that is going on, and no outside approaches, even though there is a hole in the market.
GAB and Minds are trying to become self funding entities, and as long as they can find a payment processor who is not set against them it is possible, the issue lies with trying to do business with the companies then that are tied to these giant monopolistic firms.
I am optimistic that there is a way to find the ability to process payments, whether it means going through a different payment processor, or using crypto currencies, but the whole community of political commentators needs to wake up and realize not everyone is in their camp or supporting them.
