The state of games journalism - No gamergate bullshit

All the "SJW journos" are still around, and all the GG "new and improved!" websites and vlogs exists literally solely to bitch about SJW journos. Hamblys new project, which is literally "We're literally never going to talk about politics ever you guys!" is being treated as the very first time the idea had even been conceived four years removed from the incident and that's not counting shit like Based Gamer that bombed, or Tech Raptor and Niche Gamer that gave up on the "no politics" shit very early on.

GG made anti-SJW vlogging a very lucrative career move, and if you consider a "counter-balance" style of vidya shit a win, then it's a win. But all of the original problems remain, and the best solution seemed to amount to "Hey, look at what all those faggots are saying about our vidya! How faggy!".

Journalism is a rats' nest of stupid people with broken incentives. Games journalism is a rats' nest of broken incentives with people too stupid for regular journalism. The results are as exceptional as you'd expect.

Short answer: No
Long answer: No and no one care about games journalist except to laught at them.

Yes, it created good news sites like Techraptor, Censored Gaming, Nichegamer and others.

Youtube reviewers probably also benefited.

It's not good and hasn't been good since print magazines were king and they actually had to think hard about what did and didn't belong in their pages.

It's not just Games Journalism, its Journalism and the Media across the board, I'm not sure if it's because the internet allows us to find out people are lying out their asses for money, or if cronyism and profiteering have gotten worse over the past 10 years. Maybe both.

Gamergate just stumbled on something earlier than the rest of people did, the whole "fake news" thing. Marketing, Political Agenda pushing, under the guise of unbiased fact checking and reporting.

I mean, would anyone ten years ago would think this is CNN today? What was the most respected and reputable TV news organization in the world?

CNN and most mainstream media were always bad. Shame that most liberals pulled a 180 and now love corporate neoconservativism.
