I could never understand how could some parents would do such thing to their own child. Your children is not an accessory to put on, not a doll for you to play dress up with, and definitely not a pet you could do whatever you want as they believe in you and think you as their own ally in this world since you are the closest people they can have for a very long time. In my experience (and using the phrasing a fellow kiwi used) is that on community with so many problems this type of behaviour harvest better and can end up being validated. Why there are black supremacists and why are they so predominant within black identity movements to this day?, people like strong man figures that direct them somewhere, even if it is to a cliff. It breaks my heart considering that the community fought for decades to erase the type of stigmas the "voices" of the current generation seem so fixated on perpetuating.
