A mother-of-seven has been jailed for 28 years after abusing her stepson. Tammi Bleimeyer, 37, forced Jordan Bleimeyer to sleep in a room under the stairs that the family called the ‘Harry Potter room’. Inside the room there were exposed nails and wiring around a mattress.
He was just five and had almost starved to death, weighing 29lbs, when he was found and was compared to a Holocaust survivor in court.
Jordan was not allowed to eat with his family at the dinner table and was only given a slice of bread a day. Even then, he had to eat it quickly or it would be taken away from him. It was also alleged that his father Bradley Bleimeyer drugged him to keep him quiet when they had visitors, Jordan was Tasered and his head was slammed against a wall. His dad was jailed for 15 years in 2016. The couple were reported to authorities by her biological son who had grown weary of the abuse.
He told his mother at a hearing in Spring, Texas: ‘It’s no mystery why we’re all here. You made a big mistake, and ultimately have to face the consequences.’ ‘I’m up here to ask a rhetorical question of how, how could you put your children through all that? The people who should be your pride and joy.’ ‘You caused me feelings of sadness, anger, confusion, and emptiness. I can’t say that I’ll ever be the same emotionally because of this.’ Jordan, who is now nine, has been reunited with his biological mother while Bleimeyer’s other children were taken into care. The abuse came to light in 2014 when Jordan’s stepbrother told authorities Jordan was being abused by Bleimeyer and her husband.
Bleimeyer fled the home with Jordan and refused to return when police turned up to investigate.
She was tracked using mobile phone data to a nearby motel with Jordan who was covered in bumps and bruises and severely underweight. Doctors said that he had suffered ‘severe physical abuse and habitual starvation’ that could have killed him within days.
