Matthew Patrick / "MatPat" / @MatPatGT / The Game Theorists / The Film Theorists - Just a homosexual theory: Everyone is a HATER?; Plagiarism & Clickbait King

If you recall the theory regarding Bill is inside of Stan in Gravity Falls, apparently that was ripped off entirely from someone who made a script regarding it prior to his video, and didn't receive any credit regarding this theory.

This video here:

Edit: this is the video that was towards the speel regarding the stolen theory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeHzGEgDcig

The controversy wasn’t that it was stolen. Matt asked the guy to write a script for him as an “audition piece” of sorts to see if he could be good as a regular writer for his channel. The guy made a video just going over his experience since the video was not made. Later on, Matt made the video and, if I am remembering it correctly, he thanked Matt for finally using the script

Knowing Matt, any sort of hate forming on him he will try to address, but he's done it so poorly that I don't expect any video he makes on this to be professional. I mean he cried because his comment wasn't pinned immediately, c'mon now.

There are some fans that are seeing the light and realizing Matt is being a dumbass, but there's still a whole field of whiteknights that will defend him even when he's in the wrong.

I just sense a livestream about this coming up, or he's going to discuss these issues somehow outside of his twitter. It's attention to him afterall.

Ah, I can see it now.

> Makes a video titled "I Was Wrong" on The Game Theorists' channel
> "forgets" to demonetize the video
> (Deep breath in and exhale.)
> No music throughout the entire video (or if there is, it's a stock piano or violin
> Goes on for 2 minutes inflating his own ego talking about how much Game Theory is important and how much staff they have
> He then reiterates how hard it is to see all the "hurt and backlash", not even trying to address any of the points lobbied against him in either case
> uses them youtube fake tears for sympathy because he's so sorry guis, really
> Says how badly this affected him and how he'll never do something like this again, but then talks for another 3 minutes about how he was just trying to make a living, and tries to justify in his apology as to why he played to the algorithm
> Brings up Stephanie and their child because you gotta garner them "sad boy" points somehow.
> Remind people of Ronnie's death that happened earlier this year to have the audience connect to that sad moment in order to connect it to this moment now
> Fade to black as he ends the video with some bullshit, "We are the Game Theorists, and we should never fight" or some other wishy-washy "make peace, not war" rhetoric to push to the white-knight masses
> White-knights and/or children spam this video, not even realizing that the video didn't even address those points, and whatever points he did address, he did absolutely poorly.

Or the alternative is all of the above, except he sticks it in the middle of a Fortnite and/or Undertale video (pick your poison) in order to justify monetizing the apology.

And thus the sheeple will rejoice in thunderous applause, for their dear MatPat hath speaketh of trials and tribulations plenty, as those whom remained will stand there and think..."How the hell are people buying this!?".

If he decides to bring up any sad sap stories in attempt to make everyone feel bad for him, then I have lost any shred of respect I had left for him. Bringing up Ronnie and whatnot...or the child... yeah. This mess has nothing to do with those two.

But I don't know. I don't seriously think he will make a video regarding this issue. Personally, I don't see it as a big enough importance in his schedule to make this, but I can definitely see him trying to spew some sort of apology and slap the script on twitter. MattPatt thinks he was in the right when it comes to the fortnite issue. (And he likely was, but the way he went about it was totally unprofessional.)

Tipster as well did a video regarding the same issue, and believes that Matt didn't plagiarize LegalEagle. I won't link the video as I don't wish to link every single video that's been made about this issue.

Yeah I doubt Matt would make a video about this unless it negatively affects his revenue or gets him in some sort of trouble.

Why would anyone ever voluntarily demonetize a video? I mean he's in the wrong here, but if you've got a chance to make money? Make the money.

On Youtube, profiting off of dangerous or serious events is considered exploitation and against TOS. Even if you're using monetization to donate to victims. (If he tried to justify it by putting the victim card on himself, I wouldn't be surprised.)

I don't consider clickbaiting an Earthbound clone to be a dangerous or serious event.

Unless you mean the suicide stuff, in which case there's no way he ever puts out a video on that, will keep it to twitter where only diehards will ever see it.

I assumed you were talking about the legal battle against LegalEagle, since you didn't reply to any of the previous posts.
Although, now I'm starting to imagine if he might combine both the Heartbound and LegalEagle drama into one video.

Hold up, I must be extremely out of the loop. Ronnie died? When/how?

Ronnie died 3 weeks after the E3 event. He committed suicide and MattPatt did a video on it in awareness of his passing and for mental health awareness. I don't entirely remember what month this happened in, but I wanna assume early Fall.

you can backtrack the thread to find out when this happened.

As for this whole delima, I feel people will brush it under the rug after so long like they do with everything else MattPatt wrongfully does. He made an oopsie and people will forget after a couple weeks.

So which videos will MatPat copy this year and call it his own? I'm sure there are some RDR2 videos gaining traction he can copy.

Yeah, that tends to happen with ALL drama on the net. Especially when you got people who are the vocal fanbase to back up the guy - probably won't even see anything out of this unless LE goes public.

Fun little fact, most lawyers have a website, could've probably linked to Mr. Petersen here's website to prove his point earlier.

Then again, when you list "and friends' as a part of a legal counsel, that already makes me raise an eyebrow.

How unaware of the world do you have to be to not know that lawyers tend to name the partners in their practice, or go for "associates"?

They don't fucking name their place of business like that Garfield cartoon from the 90s, for God's sake.

Well, that's the thing, isn't it?

While you can look up the lawyer's name online, since, well, it's kinda how lawyers get business now-a-days, you don't get to see the guy's face. There's no guarantee that Matpat even contacted this lawyer, or any lawyer for that matter when it comes to his videos.

One thing that leads me to think this is also with Legal Eagle's video - One thing that people seem to ignore (aside from the fact that people seem to take the joking parts at the end WAY too serious) is that LE points out that Matpat's sources and such, are wrong in some instances. Heck, he even points out that lawyers wouldn't refer to more layman documents and would cite other documents.

I mean, consider me a conspiracy theorist here - but it's rather weird how Matpat glossed over those little factors in his comment to LE

EDIT:

So, here's a fun little video 'refuting' Proto-Mario's video on this recent Matpat debacle.

Again, gotta love Game Theory fans who will defend their lord and savior - Even it if means ignoring and removing context to do so.

Like, the guy keeps going on and on about how Let's players and etc don't need to credit the game makers... When the tweets that Matpat put out say that the livestream was to promote the game and introduce a new audience to the game.

I agree that Proto's video was... Lackluster, but this guy's just as worse... If not more so since he does the knee-jerk reaction that GT tards like to do.

I'm convinced most of his defenders are ten year olds who know very little about writing and using and citing sources. If matpat pulled this shit in university he could have faced suspension. And I'm not buying the whole they used the same sources sthick. There is so much information on the topic, there is no way matpat could have written a script so similar to LE independently. His sentence structure, even his paragraph structure should have differed. Basically it looked like someone got lazy and decided to do some path writing hoping that if they change some language here and there no one will notice.

The hell he means by feeling "less alone"? Doesn't he have a wife? Man that Toby Fox call out tweet must've really hurt his ego.

Although, I can't help but notice that instead of being professional by owning to his mistakes and committing to fix his terrible clickbait and lack of crediting, he decided to draw more attention to himself presenting as a victim of the situation, while simultaneously labeling his critics as "drama". Wait a second...
