My greatest complaint is that Geoff seems to be obsessed with Sword Art Online, having made several videos that say SAO fails in almost every way imaginable, with another video halfheartedly conceding that maybe he can understand why it's as popular as it is. Granted, I'm biased, considering that I like SAO despite acknowledging it has flaws, but after a while, it gets tiresome to hear Geoff bring up SAO in videos that aren't even related (e.g. the review of No Game No Life), or complain about how bad a writer Reki Kawahara is when he's apparenly never heard of the significantly better Accel World.

It isn't just SAO, either. The negative reviews of Kakegurui and Detroit: Become Human are highly acidic, and I say that as someone who doesn't have much interest in either of those works. While I'm more inclined to agree with his review of Persona 5: The Animation, it seems a bit premature to release a review three weeks after the anime starts airing. A well-written argument can potentially win over someone who disagrees with you, or even convince that person you have a point, but Geoff has yet to manage either with me.

I guess the 'acidity' hides the lack of anything real to say, like many of 'angry' reviewers from back in the day.

A thing that the main TVTropes page mentions, Geoff apparently tried to rewrite SAO into something that he felt would be good, and then presented it as a video, on top of the clingy jealous deluge of shitting-on-SAO videos.
I'm starting to suspect that he actually has a secret lust for SAO, which is being manifested as hatred like a super anti-gay priest who diddles choir boys.

EDIT: Also, impotent rage about how a hack author can spawn a huge franchise, but all that going to video game design school got him was selling Crunchyroll subs?

Geoff keeps making SAO videos because he's secretly upset that Digibro is still "That SAO Guy" despite the latter only making two videos on the topic.

Hell, I think of the SAO Abridged series and some other small-fry YouTubers before I think of Geoff when someone says "Sword Art Online" to me. Given he has a huge boner for controlling online conversations, it probably eats at him that despite all his desperate attention-whoring as the "ironic" Anime Pope he typically isn't people's first choice for anything anime related.

Fucking, his piracy videos got their ass kicked by the guy he was initially responded too, and he has the bigger audience too.

The only thing I agree is that SAO is trash.

I don't like his politics, but I do enjoy some of his videos because when he reviews anime I like, I agree with him.

Also he changed his mind on Goblin Slayer at least.

I don't know. Geoff is one of those guys who I can tolerate maybe half his youtube content, but I would never follow on, say the twatter, because I'd find him to be completely intolerable.

You can tell by the way they begrudgingly give him credit for making points they agree with despite him committing the wrongthink of enjoying something problematic that they’ll turn on him in an instant.
