Also :offtopic:, but apparently even being the worst selling comic can get you a tv deal:

I like the artist, have no clue if the story is good tho.
The comics industry has become a conveyor belt for high-concept premises that Suits can buy for adaptation. I imagine this is one of those cases.

Also, note that the piece says that the series got optioned, so it's not guaranteed to ever get green-lit to enter production, this is basically the studio licensing the IP in advance just in case it gets big later on.

Has it though? What's really emerged out of comics lately that required anything created by the dangerwhale squad? The only Marvel/DC properties that end up as blockbusters are using characters that have existed for 20+ years and not using any of the dumb bullshit currently being printed on dead trees.

Production companies tend to think of those properties as components of a "hedge fund" of sorts. They buy up anything that sounds good in order to build-up a portfolio of IPs, and then figure out what to do with said IPs later, and that includes dumping it and leaving the option to expire. This particular deal probably isn't a million dollar one either, probably closer to a low 5-digit deal, if anything, It's far too soon in the franchise's lifespan to get anything more than that.

Also, indie comics are seeing greater rates of TV option deals, especially after the financial success of the DC/CW and Marvel/Netflix collaborations.

Zoe Quinn got an option on her shit life story, too. I don't see why this is a news story. Absolute garbage gets optioned all the time.
Clickbait site needs to bait for clicks.

The story wasn't about any of Visaggio's books though, he can't even land that.

He can’t even get the gay characters right.

If he meant the show overall it’s still wrong. Outside of this relationship (Uranus and Neptune), that didn’t get much of a spotlight in the anime, all other characters where straight.

Mags was featured in DC’s latest New Talent Showcase (2018). The book overall is pretty good except for his Mag’s story. Here’s a review by YaBoi:
YaBoi isn’t exactly unbiased when it comes to Mags, so don’t just take his word, here’s the comic so you can judge it for yourselves.

Mag's new comic:
687050

The Official Summary said:
A new Oni Press miniseries by powerhouse team of Magdalene Visaggio (ETERNITY GIRL) and Claudia Aguirre (KIM & KIM)! The year is 1983. A series of disappearances afflicts Tucker, Ohio following the opening of a mysterious new factory. But when the town finds itself under siege from strange monsters, it's up to intrepid girl gang of no-account teen girl delinquents to try and figure out what's happening -- and save everyone's lives before it's too late.
The Real Summary said:
Nancy Salazar is an angry lesbian delinquent who sales cigarettes on the hard streets (aka her school). Her group of friends include Ellen Mackie (cock hungry white slut), Veronica Hotchkiss (the butch dyke) and Ashley Difiore (the slow one). Together they form THE SICK SISTERS, the sickest, most badass, most punk rock girl gang in high school. One day Nancy gets arrested for assaulting a someone silly me, that would be logical. No, she instead gets detained for selling cigarettes and overhears how kids are going missing and that the cops are writing it off as runaways. She gets the bright idea to gather up the gang and go solve a mystery, her gang immediately asks her if she's fucking stupid.

Nice, one of the character's introductions start with them bragging about giving a blowjob:

"Could you have guessed these 2 were lesbians? Were you surprised? What do you mean it was predictable!? I'm an Eisner Nominated writer! You bigot!":

So this junkie looking white guy is looking for "the stuff". The "stuff" are cigarettes, which leads me to believe that Mags thinks you can get high of cigarettes:

Conclusion:

Is it just not in their power to write believable dialogue?
