Here's the news of the Government Shutdown as of 1/22/19

It's been a month now since this shutdown started which started back in December and no deal seems to be coming.

"The longest government shutdown in U.S. history entered its 32nd day on Tuesday with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell expected to call up legislation to advance a proposal from President Donald Trump, which Democrats have already said they’ll reject.


The president said in a Jan. 19 speech he would support a mix of immigration-related proposals in exchange for $5.7 billion to build a wall or other barriers along the border. Trump’s supporters, including Vice President Mike Pence, pointed to the offer as evidence of the president’s willingness to strike a compromise with Democrats.


Pelosi’s Democrats, meanwhile, plan more votes of their own in the House to reopen the government, with a new offer of $1 billion for border upgrades -- but not a wall -- on tap this week.

Somebody was talking about their expected trouble getting a tax return, and then I remembered since I do independent contractor shit I have my separate stash of money for my taxes instead of having it pulled from my paycheck.
So I just do my taxes and pocket the remainder #smug

But you pay an assload, double social security, and can't get unemployment benefits if work dries up. Independent contractors have nothing to be smug about. Yours is a doomed race.

We're all doomed in our own unique ways. I just don't have to be doomed about a tax return this year. 8)

So it's over for three weeks and if there's no deal Trump goes emergency and gets a wall that way, right?

Wtf...why did he cave? He already offered the democrats a good enough deal a few days ago, and now he's backing out of that? If his whole plan was to pretty much play chicken with Democrats, why didn't he offer that deal earlier or speak to the public earlier and make sure ahead of time that his base would come out to put pressure on democrats instead of having the RNC recently pledge its undivided support for the President just now? What is this? Amateur hour?

At this rate, when can we expect a third party president? The Dems are a laughing stock and Trump is proving himself to be not much better if he's accepting deals from his enemies.

Doesn't matter why, he's a liability now. He has to be primaried by someone better or replaced with someone third party.

So? We're getting the same long term prognosis either way, might as well give it a shot. Trump caving has damaged the credibility of anyone that claims to stand for border security. He has to go before it's too late to get anyone in that will do anything.
