I disagree because this implies that everyone who is not in a relationship and is not a MGTOW must then be an incel. I would say that not even everyone who is "involuntarily celibate" - who wishes they were in a sexual relationship but are not - are "incels" as we know them, as being an incel involves the conscious decision that it's all someone else's fault (women, the government, etc.) that you can't get laid. As with other nerds, I've had some pretty long dry spells in my life (I was involuntarily celibate), but I never had anyone but myself to blame (I never identified myself as an incel or found their arguments very sympathetic). Becoming an incel as we know them most definitely involves choice.

Here is a simple explanation of the difference between incels and MGTOWs: Incels have given up on themselves and are proud of it. MGTOWs have given up on themselves but are pretending they haven't.

Men from either group would be perfectly capable of getting into a lasting, fulfilling relationship if they would do what is necessary: clean up, man up, look forward instead of back. Women usually find active, purposeful men irresistible. But that would mean they'd have to give up self-pity, and self-pity is a sweet addiction.

Also, according to TFM, his promiscuous single mother would feed him and his siblings expired food before abandoning him when he was 13, was manipulated by his grandma, was hated by his stepmother, was falsely accused of rape, and was cheated on by all of his girlfriends. So yeah, the question "Who hurt you?" is valid in his case.

I'm just saying, anyone who has a long list of grievances to "justify" being an asshole to unrelated persons may occasionally feel the need to "improve" it a bit.

No, those images are actually from an incident a few years ago where a disgruntled employee who had been fired from a local TV station shot from close range and killed a cameraman and news reporter while they were doing a live interview. He recorded himself on his phone doing it, hence the FPS-like perspective. Here's footage from the shooter's phone (it stops right before the shooting starts) and here's the footage from the cameraman as it was broadcast on live TV (including the gunshots and reaction of the in-studio newsreader). The shooter later shot himself after a police chase.

I'm not entirely dismissive of the MGTOW community though, simply because I think they're partly onto something, even if they don't properly understand what that 'something' is themselves.

There is a lot of truth to the idea that many men lack a sense of purpose and self-worth that isn't tied to what they can provide for women, and there is honestly something to be said for the idea of a hypothetical community that could help men find just that. It's really a shame that no such community seems to exist, because it would probably improve the mental health of a lot of these guys, and likely improve their general behavior and attitudes towards women in the process.

• Incel says 'the game is rigged, women will never like me, time to pull a Supreme Gentleman'. Too spineless to improve themselves at all, easier to just play the victim because high school was a bad time for you.
