I am getting a lot of positive feedback for this thread being up. A lot of people can’t seem to find a discussion for this topic that is grounded in reasonable emotions, and that is frustrating for them. They have the entire World Wide Web at their fingertips, but can’t find a forum that seems grounded in reality.

That’s why I’m very happy to help make this an informative, funny and thoughtful topic. Please let me know if I can improve the OP by the way.

Update: Here is an introduction of all this from the perspective of one of the students who was there.
Hello Local 12 News. At the present time, I have an urgent request that truly is of the utmost importance, a request that supersedes my entire being and applies to the integrity of all Americans. You have probably seen or heard of the video of students wearing MAGA gear supposedly "harassing," "bothering," and "jeering at" a Native American veteran. This is not true and taken entirely out of context. I am a student at Covington Catholic and was present at the occurrence. Here is what truly happened:

Every year, my school attends the March for Life in DC and afterward tours the city. Our chaperones and teachers told us to be at the Lincoln Memorial at 5:30 to be ready for the buses to pick us up. 5:30 came around and we were all gathered at the Memorial. As we are an all-male school that loves to get hyped up (hence our cheer section's name, "Colonel Crazies"), and as we have done for years prior, we decided to do some cheers to pass time. In the midst of our cheers, we were approached by a group of adults led by Nathan Phillips, with Phillips beating his drum. They forced their way into the center of our group.

We initially thought this was a cultural display since he was beating along to our cheers, and so we clapped to the beat. He came to stand in front of one of my classmates who stood where he was, smiling and enjoying the experience. However, after multiple minutes of Mr. Phillips beating his drum directly in the face of my friend (mere centimeters from his nose), we became confused and started wondering what was happening. It was not until later that we discovered they would incriminate us as a publicity stunt. As a result, my friend faces expulsion for simply standing still and our entire school is being disparaged for a crime we did not commit. To reiterate, we did not partake in any physical or verbal abuse, did not chant "build the wall" or mock or anything of the like, and did not seek to incite violence.

After that initial occurrence, we were then verbally assaulted by four or five African-American men who called us "faggots" and berated one of our African-American students for being friends with us. The truth needs to come out. I pray that you read this and can speak for us who are silenced by the media. Here is video evidence of Nathan Phillips approaching the group of Covington Catholic students, showing that we did not approach him but he approached us(https://twitter.com/i/status/1086681831804674048); the later half of the occurrence showing Phillips' group inciting debates as well as harassment of the students by another group; and a second video of the harassment of students (https://twitter.com/i/status/1086796421226029056).

As you can see by these videos, the true story is quite different from that portrayed by the media. A great injustice has been done, and it is our duty to see that the truth prevails. Additionally, Mr. Phillips has a history of claiming racial harassment. I am by no means disparaging his credibility, but this should be taken note of.

"WASHINGTON, DC (WKYT) - A video that has been widely shared on social media has sparked outrage against a Northern Kentucky High School.

According to FOX 19, the video shows a student standing and smirking directly in front of a Native American as he drums and sings, while a larger group of students, some wearing clothing that appears to bear the insignia of Covington Catholic High School, surrounds the man, jeering and chanting.

Social media posts from people at the scene say the Native American man was participating in the Indigenous Peoples March.

Posts on Covington Catholic’s Instagram page shows students from the school were in Washington, DC at the time, participating in the March for Life. The school’s social media platforms have since been restricted.

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes voiced her disapproval of the behavior in a tweet reading, “As we prepare to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his work to ensure equality for all through nonviolent civil disobedience sadly still applies today. Kentucky, we are better than this.”

She has also released a statement calling on Covington Catholic High School to denounce the incident.

Covington Catholic has not issued a statement at this time."

Update:
They have barely lost any steam. Still trying to doxxxxx a bunch of high school kids, Lionizing Mr. Phillips, and another reference to deep-south Dixie days.

Not pictured, but if you guys use social media to bring up any counter-narrative about Phillips’ actions toward the kids, or the overreaction toward the kids in general, I’d be very careful. They are out for blood.

The principal, the teachers, the main few spotlighted boys smirking, they have all been named and targeted. The situation is approaching nuclear.

Even the buggers willing to admit they got played are unable to comprehend how shallow they sound justifying their initial reaction based on the kids smug face and maga hat. Thinking of a word beginning with 'p' and ending with 'rejudice'.
Yeah, exactly. To me, the people who reacted like fucking animals should be put on the "Never ever take these morons seriously ever again" list. But instead I'm sure we'll hear how this is actually toxic masculinity's fault, and trump's america, blah blah blah.

There's already 1730 pages in the 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' thread, but I bet a thread of just the fake MAGA hoaxes would reach triple digits by year's end. With the 2020 election coming up these hoaxes are going to be more prevalent and perpetrated by actual professionals, so probably wont be as sloppy as most have been up to this point. You'd think so, anyway.

Also, 'Outsiders and the Brown' would make a wicked band name. (Please let me change my username to that!)

Did the lawyer finally send letters to the blue checkmarks yet?
He said papers would go out on Friday, and it's been a week already.
I have a hard time believing that all of the shrieking harpies would back down so quickly, if posts like that are still making the rounds.

Sandmann lawyer: Letters sent to New York Times, Today Show, 50 others may precede suits
CAMERON KNIGHT AND MAX LONDBERG | CINCINNATI ENQUIRER | 19 hours ago
The lawyers representing Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann and his family said Friday they have sent letters to media outlets, individual journalists, celebrities and Catholic organizations as the first step in possible libel and defamation lawsuits.

The list includes 50-plus names of organizations or individuals: from presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren to actress Alyssa Milano; individual journalists including Maggie Haberman, Ana Cabrera and David Brooks; national media outlets like the The New York Times, CNN, GQ and TMZ; and the dioceses of Covington and Lexington as well as the archdioceses of Louisville and Baltimore.

Nick, as well as his school, faced threats from those angered by video showing him, his classmates and Native Americans engaged in a much-debated confrontation. Some of the students wore "Make America Great Again" hats. Some students chanted and performed the tomahawk chop.

The legal counsel representing Nick and his family, Todd McMurtry and experienced libel and defamation lawyer L. Lin Wood of Atlanta, have said they will seek justice for the harm allegedly done to the teen.

McMurtry said an example of false reports were those saying Nick got into the face of Phillips.

McMurtry added his belief that some in the aftermath of the incident "permanently stained (Nick's) reputation."

McMurtry is with the law firm of Hemmer Defrank Wessels and has practiced law in Greater Cincinnati since 1991. He said a team of seven lawyers has been working full-time to review the media accounts of what happened.

This week they have prepared documentation preservation letters addressed to organizations and individuals they believe may have defamed or libeled Nick with false reporting, McMurtry said.

McMurtry said the following organizations and people are those who can expect to receive the letters, which were all sent by the close of business on Friday.

  • The Washington Post
  • The New York Times

"They know they crossed the line," McMurtry said. "Do they want 12 people in Kentucky to decide their fate? I don't think so."

He added that those on the list will "raise legal defenses and challenges that we'll have to overcome, but that's the way it goes."

The letters tell the organizations and individuals not to destroy any documents in connection with the case, the attorney said. For example, the documents could be drafts or early versions of articles or emails among staff discussing the story.

McMurtry said he and Wood sent slightly different letters, but there were no substantive differences between them.

After a review, the lawyers "concluded we have a good faith basis to sue" certain organizations, McMurtry said. However, he said not all the organizations who were sent letters will necessarily be sued. He added that this process will not be over quickly.

McMurtry said his clients will also be demanding retractions and apologies in addition to possible litigation.

"We want to change the conversation. We don't want this to happen again," McMurtry said. "We want to teach people a lesson."

He went on to say the lesson that is the media cannot state as fact things that aren't true.

"There was a rush by the media to believe what it wanted to believe versus what actually happened," McMurtry said.

The students were in Washington D.C. for a March for Life event.

Phillips, the Native American elder, said he approached the students to defuse a tense exchange between them and a group of Black Hebrew Israelites, a reported hate group.

Phillips has said he felt intimidated by the students.

The first short clip that caught the attention of people on social media prompted calls of racism. Extended footage later surfaced in the days after the event, showing the reported hate group lobbing insults at the students.

McMurtry said the next steps for lawyers will likely involve conversations and negotiations with the legal teams of organizations and then possibly filing lawsuits.

"For the mob to just go tear apart a 16-year-old boy is inexcusable," McMurtry said. "He'll never be able to get away from this."

The Diocese of Covington and the Diocese of Lexington declined to comment. Emails seeking comment from other organizations listed have not been immediately returned.

I suspect they are collating still at this point. I made sure I didn't send in anything that had any sort of retraction, nor anything from a nobody, nor anything that wasn't blatant, and I submitted 9 or 10 from news outlets, celebrities, or politicians/political staffers. I suspect they are weighing through it now, and wouldn't expect any filings for another week or even a month. They made it incredibly easy to archive and hence date stanp things on their submission page.

You're doing god's work, brother.

So infamous lolcow Kurt Kikenbald is on the list of 50 individuals/organizations being sent a letter by Sandmann's legal team. I wonder how long before he starts tweeting up a shitstorm about it.
If we are lucky, he'll post the letter online for us to read.

I’m glad the lawsuits are moving forward. I’m still skeptical it will work but it’s the first time in a long time that the right is actually is starting to fight back the left’s nonstop stream of bullshit.

My guess is the really powerful ones like the MSM outlets, Congressmen, and Senators will use their pull to get the lawsuits tossed, some of the others will probably settle or have one of the groups they work under support them, it's a wildcard on the 'literally whos' in the list. The people like Kurt Eichenwald and the Diocese are probably going to get thrown to the sue wolves though, Kurt has burned almost all of his bridges and the Catholic higher-ups are hated due to all their controversies including the sex abuse cover ups.
