The tl;dr on it was "Pro-Gamergate users harassed a lot of women and minorities in the industry, and that was reprehensible, but we shouldn't let its stigma prevent us from talking about ethics in gaming journalism." Guy tried to please everyone by finding middle ground, but he just about pissed off everyone instead. Now anti-GG thinks he's an abuse apologist and pro-GG thinks he's a cuck.

Here's the problem with that - That sort of response only plays to her game outside a few cases. Notch could get away with it because the dude's rich af and no matter how salty people get about it, they don't have the minecraft megabux, and he does. The mob can't really harm him, and that annoys the heck outta them.

For almost everyone else, as much as it might be satisfying to tell Zoe to shove it up her ass, she would just quote it and go "LOOK HOW MEAN WOMEN IN GAMING BEING OPPRESSED AGAIN PLEASE IGNORE THAT I AM THE TEXTBOOK DEFINITION OF A GOLDDIGGING SHREW"

That said it's having diminishing returns, I believe the vast majority of people don't even know who Zoe is, why a bunch of journalist nobodies care about her nor care about her drama. Most of them are so isolated at this point that they are talking to a much smaller circle of readers than they were 5 years ago.

I wonder how people would respond if Anthony Burch just lit into her one day. He's like the polar opposite of Notch, he has so little to lose no matter how mad people get.
