I've been lurking this thread very hard and current developments have sucked me back in. I had thought a while ago about suggesting that Michael pitch the 'coparenting problems' angle to Dr Phil, but it's all worked out that way anyway.
Rightly or wrongly, Jani has an official schizophrenia diagnosis which the show would feel protects them. They won't go into the past I expect, or not much, but will focus on the present coparenting issues, Cory's role in the house and the current medication regime for Bodhi. I hope Susan has prepared lots of videos to show his 'psychosis' and will campaign hard so that all children can get the Clozapine and Lithium they need - should go great.
Yes Phil is a raging narc but he's able to channel it constructively when there are kids being abused. He plays tennis in LA and you never know who he knows in what field or what inside dirt he's heard off the record. I feel they wouldn't do a full show with the whole family if they did't have a good bed of research before even calling them. Interviewing Jani early was a way for Phil to gauge if she's cognitively able to participate on stage and to stop her from parroting anyone. He has also been enlightened in recent years by meeting Gypsy as well as the Lawless/neurology connection. Personally I'm hoping everyone gets sent to the ranch.
