Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. They wouldn't be able to get anything out of him and it would just be hell for everyone involved if they dragged him there.

The only thing that doesn't make sense if Cory sees Susan and the kids as a meal ticket...why did he cancel his health insurance? Even if the guy doesn't give 2 shits about them personally, from an investment POV it would of made sense to keep the health insurance going because Kaiser were more than happy to play along up until this point.

Lack of planning and foresight. It's relatively complicated and time-consuming to figure out which providers and healthcare systems are and are not in-network with specific insurance plans. Highly unlikely Cory understood that cancelling his insurance meant no more coverage for Kaiser mental health. Him and Susie Q probably assumed either Mike's plan or Medi-Cal would work with Kaiser psychiatrists, but that assumption was incorrect. And they didn't bother verifying before cancelling the plan. He just saw it as a quick way to save money, and didn't give af about his stepchildrens' continued care. (Likely for the best in terms of Jani&Bodhi though, because now Mommy's doctor shopping is more limited.)

it seems really short notice that you find out you're going on TV in less than a week.

That is how this show works. They don't want the perps to have a chance to prepare. The show people do all the legwork in advance and they're all nice, then they get the release signed and swoop in all at once and catch everyone off guard. Boom! You're on TV saying stupid things and there's an audience sitting out there booing you. They did the same thing with the nut who threw herself on her internet hater's car and the crazy narcissist who had tattoos all over his face. Once they get the signature on the disclaimer form, it all happens really quick. I can see how this story should stir up an awful lot of social media uproar.

Dr Phil is due for a real shit storm to make him relevant again. This might be it.

Dr.Phil doesn't usually bring kids on his show. I assume they'll show video of Bodhi, though.

I can't be 100% certain but I would speculate that this is just his innate selfishness kicking in there. Or he couldn't afford to keep paying for it maybe. Money troubles has been a theme he has upheld for decades.

I think big man McGraw is sensing a shit-storm brewing around this and wants to get ahead of any backlash against him. Call me optimistic, but he might even admit to being manipulated and spin it into one of his "teachable moments": "Look, I'm just a folksy quarterback-cum-psychologist-cum-TV star, I'm not perfect, anyone can end up being manipulated by a person abusing the medical system... I recall seeing some of them when I was down a YT rabbit hole, and then she popped up on Dr Phil. He reamed her about it, even though she said she was doing it for "educational" purposes.

The show has been given full access to medical records, psychiatrists, etc. Dr. Sophy is well aware of the Schofield family. I would assume hes being brought in to facilitate the forensic psychologist that Bodhis last psychiatrist recommended. DCFS was already trying to involve him before the Dr. Phil show got involved.

Jani was interviewed in her room while Susan was in another room.

EDIT: Also, aside from the obvious I'm glad that they actually visited the apartment and witnessed first hand the conditions that the kids are living in. I'd imagine her videos don't quite do it justice. I'm also thinking the 40 gallon tank is likely still in the middle of Jani's bedroom, which will look insane if they ask her about the sleeping arrangements!

As others have said, thank you for being kind enough to share your story. I'm glad you've been able to get through such terrible experiences growing up and still turn out to be a kind and good person. Out of respect for you I'm not going to trash your dad anymore, you already know more about him than any of us.

This is one of the more fringe theories in this thread but some of us think that Corey is suspiciously too close and touchy with Bhodi. From what you've said it doesn't sound like he appreciates girls and women very much...Is there anything you can think of that would make you think he has some pedophilic inclinations or interest in boys/men? Or does that seem farfetched to you? You can also watch some of the videos and see for yourself how he seems to always be with and touching Bhodi. I'll try and edit this post if I can find the videos and pictures from the thread.

Dr. Phil is steadfast in not allowing children to be used in his show if he feels it is exploitative. I cant imagine a scenario where he would bring Bohdi out there, or even attempt to interview him. Im certain he observed him, and lets face it...he has all the video evidence he would ever need to have a discussion. He will also be reaching out to their doctors, therapists and teachers you can bet on that.

Kelli. I think you are amazing. I was raised by a diagnosed narcissistic sociopath. If not for my father I would have most definitely have become collateral damage. You have done an amazing and brave thing by coming on here and Im really happy to see everyone recognizing that and being respectful. Its impressive to see a forum that can sometimes be a little...well. Yall know. This thread has never been that though. Its always been about those kids, and Im proud to be a part of that.
